Amaruda's gameplan is pretty simple. Stride into Ishtar, beef up your columns, stack the deck with Revelation, and then go for five attacks. Rinse and repeat. Five powerful attacks absolutely melts, and this ends up making Ishtar your first stride, midrange stride, and finisher. Plan B is, if you're way behind on card advantage, striding into Hellsky for draws.
I've already made a post explaining why I believe Mythic Beast, Fenrir is better than Amaruda, and I haven't changed my opinion since. For the purpose of trying to keep the deck budget, though, we will be going with Amaruda as our main ride. Amaruda is a solid card, and honestly a very good investment because Revelation support will definitely be catered towards Amaruda over Fenrir. With Genesis getting confirmed support in Set 14 and Verno most likely being reintroduced into the anime, Fenrir is a $10 card that's likely to be crept and receive little to no name support in the near future. Outside of Wiseman, I don't recommend Fenrir as a long-term investment.

Oh, and we can get away with 4-6 Grade 3s thanks to Amaruda's stride enabler skill. Yay.
The Grade 2 lineup is filled with numberhitting rears with Revelation. Kotonoha hits hard, completely free of charge. Senri swings 11k by herself and assists with deckstacking. Ninnil can also hit for large numbers easily, especially with how little Counterblast costs there are in the deck. Cap out on all of them. You don't have many other options anywho, and it doesn't really matter how underwhelming their effects are as long as they get power for your Ishtar turns.
Moving onto Grade 1s, we again don't really have much good options and are forced to bolster Ishtar. Gelgia is your mainphase stander to refund Revelation and build columns. Unfortunately, it's usually a minus to the soul, but it's a necessary evil and takes some weight off of Nakisawume. Awanami is nice to have because of how much soul you're going through, and Detect Angel goes 11k solo for either a booster or frontrow rear if nessicary. The Revelation pg is used over Hel because Ishtar consistecy is prioritzed instead of counter charging when barely any cards use the Counterblast.
Nakisawume is my starter of choice. Her draw timing is better than Van's, and it's good to have options to stand so that Gelgia doesn't have to do all the work. Leyding is another option, but when most of the soulblasting is happening off of Ishtar, it's hard to justify the bad timing with toolboxing. For triggers, we have access to Dreaming Dragon and Tahro, so of course we'll be using them. Crits and heals can take the rest of the slots. 12 Stand is something I've seen but don't recommend. Vanilla stands are pretty pointless because not only does one need the crit pressure when you're attacking with the VG, but Ishtar and Tahro should be doing all the dirty work for you.
So, moving onto the decklist:

* I've basically got the ideal G Zone and cut 1 Hellsky, 2 Vanargandrs, and 1 Sebreeze. They're not nessicary, but money cards that give the deck a little boost. If you want to fill the empty space, use Tyr, more Doom Brace, or Blizza.
Price: $60
Effectiveness: 7/10
Competitive: In the current control-ridden meta, the deck is pretty unreliable. Revelation makes consistent power turns, but it doesn't matter when you're constantly eating Denials and getting locked. Unless the deck gets cards to bypass control in set 14, we just have to wait for control's usage to drop.
Final Words: Although I can't really say Amaruda will do much right now, getting the deck and its key parts would be a really strong investment. The deck has weaknesses, but honestly just with a few cards to dodge control and a less wet noodle G2 and G1 lineup, the deck would be set for competitive play. I personally enjoy the deck, and I hope anyone else who decides to play it does too.

Cheap + Waifu always a winning combination XD
ReplyDeletethe fact that gavrail, and Amaruade are in the "budget" category scares me a bit... lets hope ultima isn't a "use or get run over card", and prices don't break the system, though with Dust almost being an instant win before fan outcry who knows.
