Budget Deck: Kagero (Seal Dragons)

The OG Seal Dragon
Seal Dragons are really good for messing with your opponent's field, albeit outclassed by SP Witches in a few ways. I've really liked their little gimmick of calling out Grade 2's ever since Season 3, but they never really went anywhere with the little support they had. Couldn't really shine with Overlords stealing all the glory.

Enter GBT-01 and GBT-07.

The G-Boosters really gave Seal Dragons an amp-up in power and new units to add to their ranks. The GBT-07 support in particular is really amazing and cleaned up the places where Seal Dragons were lacking. Seal Dragons are also probably the most efficient Kagero deck aside from the Legend Deck and aren't that hard to find, aside from Georgette. I'm sure you're all excited(I hope) for this, so lets get on with it!

Grade 3
Squawk! (Don't run this)

The OG Seal Dragon and probably the easiest to get is Seal Dragon, Blockade. It's pretty basic and causes your
opponent's units to lose Intercept. It's a pretty nice skill and since it's so cheap I'd definitely run it... if it didn't have 10k power.

Blockade's Crossride, Blockade Inferno, is really good with the right rearguard setup. The potential field nuke is really good and the Crossride 13k defensive is really nice to have if you're running OG Blockade.

Hellfire Seal Dragon, Weathercloth is the dedicated Seal Dragon break ride. It unconditionally swaps out two of your opponent's rearguards with Grade 2s. Really useful for getting rid of annoying Grade 1s and filling up your opponent's board with Grade 2s for your various Seal Dragons.

Seal Dragon, Georgette's probably the hardest to get among the Seal Dragon Grade 3s, but he's definitely worth it. His Limit Break put a lot of pressure on your opponent, especially after a Weathercloth break ride, and his ACT is just icing on the cake. As many times as you like during your turn you may CB1 to unlock any of your rearguards. That's really, really useful considering how many Link Jokers that are infesting Locals and Regionals everywhere. It sucks that he's an $8 promo, but if you can get your hands on him he's definitely worth it.

Grade 4

Seal Dragon!
Hey wait a minute...
Let's first talk about Dragonic Blademaster "Taiten", our newest Kagero stride from GBT-07. It's a great, generic Kagero stride that can potentially retire three units and is a crit-gainer. Price? About $10-12. I don't know about you, but I really don't want to spend $40-50 on a whole playset of "Taiten". If you think it's worth it go ahead and use him.

Our main stride's gonna be Crossorigin. Exchange up to three units and gain a crit if they have two or more Grade 2s. Wait a minute... that's pretty much Taiten. And how much is he? Only $3? Wow. Just perfect for a budget deck.

Now onto the rest of the strides. We have L'express as a finisher, and the rest of the slots can go to Vortex Desire and Mustafa.

If you have Root Flares go ahead and use 'em.

Grade 2

Seal Dragon Baraxya's our newest Seal Dragon Grade 2 and it's so frickin amazing. For just a Soulblast 1 you force your opponent to call a G2 or let you draw a card. In the early game most players will either only have one Grade 2 in hand for riding or call out all of their Grade 2s for rush, so it's pretty much a SB1 Draw 1 early game. Late game it'll fill up your opponent's board with a bunch of Grade 2s for all your typical Seal Dragon shenanigans.

Seal Dragon Corduroy swaps out one of your opponent's units with a Grade 2, similarly to Weathercloth and Crossorigin. Again, it helps to get rid of pesky rearguards and replace them with something a bit less useful.

Between Flame Star and Hellfire, I'd go with Flame Star. Sure, Hellfire gets a power boost, but it contests soul with Baraxya. Flame Star has a cheaper cost and can be used on the Vanguard Circle during the early game if needed.

10k Seal Dragon Vanilla
12k Seal Dragon Beater
Grade 1

Just gotta sit down for a little bit
4 PGs. Preferrably Rinocross for the name, but anything works. Lava Flows aren't necessary, but nice
to have if there's room.

Limit Break enablers are always useful. It has the Seal Dragon name, too, so even better.

Doskin's the other new Seal Dragon from GBT-07 and has unflips that put Aethonic to shame. He also makes pretty good columns with little to no effort, which is always great to have.

Kersey's a drop and draw. It has its uses, but doesn't really help the deck in any specific way.

Gariserge is a really good pressure unit, especially when boosting Crossorigin. Powers up and nullifies intercepts.

Explosive Claw would be ok... If Flannel weren't better in every single way. Zero reason to run Explosive Claw over Flannel.

Grade 0

The best starter for this deck is Terricloth. It's skill is perfect for the deck and he has the name for Baraxya's especial soulblast. Shouldn't really run anything else.

For triggers, try to run all Seal Dragon triggers for the name, including Tarpaulin Dracokid. The unflip is amazing.

Effectiveness: 7/10

Price: $50-55

Competitive: Maybe

Final Words: The new support gives Seal Dragons a great power boost, although they aren't going to be topping anytime soon. If you enjoy Kagero but want a little bit of fresh air from Over(hype)lords I suggest you give this deck a go. Not exactly as autopilot as normal Kagero, but not to difficult to pick it up once you get used to it.

Anyhow, see you on the next one!

    2. @Most Expensive Card. The most expensive in the decklist is a tie between Mustafa and Denial Griffin. If you want to use Rinocross that's gonna be $10, so good luck with that.

@Raindear Ill be sure to cover it in full soon, so look forward to that!
