Budget Deck: Megacolony (Darkface)

Okay, let's try this again.

After being left in the darkness for the longest time, Bushiroad finally decided to give Megacolony support, and surprisingly, it's good, cheap, and fun to play with, trolling your opponent all day. MC is a great budget deck, being probably one of the cheapest competetive builds. Plus, it's ridiculously fun to play with. I can't say this enough: It's fun to play with.

Grade 3

Greatest troll of
all of Vanguard
We got a very nice Strider this season with the cool name of Intimidating Mutant, Darkface. And guess what, the name isn't the only thing that's cool. The skill is too. Usually on-Stride units give you a +1 for a CB1. Darkface, my friends, gives you a delayed +2 with a bit of soft plussing with the paralyzing. Plus, he has a GB2 that screws up many decks (Like, AqF, which is very meta now and will be again soon), even with that SB2.

With this great Strider, we should be able to make a meta breaking deck, right? Wrong. The biggest problem with this deck is the lack of a good backup G3, because Bishitroll decided to give the trolls the worst backup ever (probably). Plus, all our past support weren't that... impressive, so we're in a loss for our Backup. Plus, the backup needs to be able to support the deck if ridden instead of Darkface, which none of our options (currenty) can do. If I were to choose a backup, it would probably be... Cyclomatooth. Why? Because you can actually sit on Cyclomatooth and then Breakride, and do a "field nuke". The fact that Cyclo also paralyzes the VG helps, because this deck utterly lacks reliable VG paralyzing which, for MC, is amazing. Why?

This is why: The shocking truth
Anyway going back... Cyclo is a good backup because you can sit on him, and VG paralyze. The other options are... Machining Warsickle is probably the next best, considering that VG paralyze. The other option is Avectro Zeus, having that meh second skill, but I'd just run Cyclo/Warsickle in the end.

Grade 4

Fun fact: This guy is
an artificial zombie
In order to "amend" our unfortunate "lack of backup G3" problem, Bushi gave us at least, a good Stride. His name shall be remembered, honored, feared- Okay I'm done. Anyway the main guy is Paraspear, is a great Stride. The moment he comes into play, if your opponent has 3 or more RGs, he automatically gives you a +1. Also, it doesn't have to hit, all he needs to do is be Stridden. Anyway, this guy could be Stridden in any point of the game and still be good, so I'd run 3-4.

The next Stride in our hand is Stun Beetle, which is... Not really as flexible as Paraspear, but is still good, because of that immense pressure, and possible VG paralyze. The best part about him is that you could run an od number and still use him, since you don't have to persona flip if it doesn't hit. The good thing about this is that you could run 2, and your opponent would (try to) block both, thinking that you'll have an extra Stun Beetle. Or, you could run 3 and have access to pressure 2 times, and laugh at your opponent if he/she blocks the 3rd one too. Anyway, Stun Beetle is practically a staple of at least 2 in Darkface decks.

Then your other Stride option is... Jaggydevil, who in all honesty is preety meh. Darkface provides the paralyzing, and Stun Beetle provids the pressure. Plus restricting into Front and Backrow is preety bad for many reasons. In order to fill up the last spot, I'd personally use Blizza, because of the insta-GB2, and possible final turn power ram after your opponent used all of his PGs on Stun.

Grade 2

Dandy Bug
Let's first think about the pre-Stride turn options that you could use in the deck, since early game options never hurt to have. G-BT04 gave us Abyss Diver made specifically for this purpose... but did a poor job on it. Darkface needs the Soul, Darkface needs the CB. It's just not really worth it. Instead, there's a better version of this guy and her name is Papilio. Papilio is completely free of a paralyze, which is unquestionably better than Abyss Diver even withought the intercept restriction pasted on her. Then, we have Bloody Hercules as another early game option, but meh.

A staple for a Darkface deck, her name is Sweet Cocktail. Seriously, this is a must have in Darkface decks, due to that amazingness plastered in her. Amber cost for a front-row gigaparalyzing (Which is plain great considering it fills up Darkface's problem). Plus, she's only a R. She's great.

Other options to consider are mainly consisted of Buster Mantis for the offense option, Machining Armor Beetle for that soul fill and another early game option, and Toxic Trooper just because.

Grade 1

This tragedy will never happen again.
Let me dedicate a section towards the MC PGs. Our original (And the only) PG for the longest time used to be Paralyze Madonna, who, due to the reason that everyone wanted her and that she was an old card, skyrocketed her price all the way to $15. Her price did go down recently, but she's still $8, and it isn't worth it. Instead, G-BT04 offered us a new PG called Rebel Mutant, Starshield, which helps solve our CB probelms and wallet problems.

Anyway going back to G1 options, running 4 of the PG and the Stride fodder fills up 8 of your space. Your other options are: Scissor Finger to boost Buster Mantis to 21k, Phantom Black just because, and Brillouin Blister to troll. And then, there's one guy that you must run at 2 or more for Darkface's GB2: Machining Mosquito.

Grade 0

Kidbug (Just kidding)
Crimebug is a wonderful starter for Darkface, giving another access to front row paralyze, which Darkface can't do. And you don't have many other starter options anyway, the only good one being Megacolony Battler C, which is only good for giving early game pressure and guranteed SC for Darkface.

The triggers? Simply two words: No Draws. Darkface already provides a looot of drawing to the point that the only way to lose is by deckout, which is made worse by running draws. Either go 12 crit or 8 crit 4 stand.

Note: I highly support building your own decks and doing your own testings. Please do not straight out use this deck, but use it as a base to start and spread out and make your own Version.

Grade 4:

Effectiveness: 9/10

Price: $20-30

Competetive: Yes

Final Words: MC is one of the clans that I'm very interested at thanks to that cool gimmic (even if it's completely outclassed by Lock) and watching them get good support, that's cheap, made me really happy. Anyway, this deck can become a really annoying nut to crack with that hand and lack of RGs to attack. MC is a control clan so it's not excatly "Autopilot"...  Anyway this is a fun deck that can be used in both competetive play and casual play and be forgiven, and you can be a ridiculous troll for your opponent.

    1. It did? Heh

Welp, for the backup, there are a couple options. The best option is probably Warsickle, but if you can't get him, Avecto Zeus works just fine.

  4. Another good sub for Cyclomatooth that I have tested is Longhorn Hunter. He is only around 50 cents usually and he will stun any rear-guard and prevent them from intercepting just by using one CB upon placement on VG or RG. He's a nice option if you don't have a Cocktail in hand or on the field.

    1. Actually... Longhorn is terrible. If you end up riding him, he becomes a vanila, which is something you hate. Even if you rode Darkface, you paralyze enough for Longhorn not to matter.

  5. So the 2 new mc cards (goliath and tryghul) that came out in fc 2015, would they be nice additional support to the deck?

    1. In this one? No, for they're specifically Giraffa only. However, Giraffa deck is fairly budget, so on another deck maybe.

    2. Oh okay since I do wanna somehow pm you my decklist and ask for your reccomendations what to change/keep

    3. Blogger doesn't support PMing, so you should probably just post it here.

If you don't want to, leaving a message in my wiki wall should work.

  6. Hi tachi, I think you misunderstood Brillouin Blister's skill. He is supposed to be restricting vgs from restanding so its pretty much useless against any others...

  7. so the price for dark face or a complete dark face deck has gotten quite pricey and pretty hard to find! Would appreciate if you guys could do a machining deck. I know it would be kinda hard or not but here is my challenge to you guys! Build a budget machining deck!!! xD (PLS, desperately cries!)

    1. ... Wait, Darkface got expensive?
      ...... HOW?
Machining Budget Deck will be possible, but be trash so RIP.

    2. $6 on Darkface isn't that expensive, but is somewhat hard to find since everyone wants to get their hands on it before the new Technical Booster comes out. I also saw someone with a Giraffa Darkface deck yesterday at my locals, so it's seeing a lot more play now.

The only expensive Machining cards are the stride and Stag Beetle, which is getting a reprint, so it should be possible to have a complete Machining budget deck sometime in the future.

  8. The top element with regards to your ex can be that you might manage the od variety nevertheless employ your ex, considering that you won't need to character change in case this doesn't happen reach. A number of about it can be that you might manage only two, plus your opposition would likely (try and) stop the two, convinced that you have another Stun Beetle. As well as, you may manage 3 along with have force 2 times, along with have a good laugh for your opposition in case he/she hindrances your third one particular way too. At any rate, Stun Beetle can be nearly a new staple involving at the least only two throughout Dark face veranda's.

    1. Dear Professor Toronto, I am very bad at English and science so I would deeply no forever appreciate it if you would speak in bad English and use very bad science logic so that others can understand. I am not insulting you but rather trying to teach you the ways of your madness. What madness? one might say. The madness is in the ways of how you word things. If you do not refrain from using such inappropriate language then Mr Robot Victor Chang will never be able to understand what you are saying and instead say ...what? So in conclusion what I basically want to say is that your wordings are far too hard/Complex and that it is time to grow up and to accept that the world is not as smart as you Dear Professor!

This is coming from someone who does not know hot to use proper punctuation, just read Professor Toronto's comment on using elements in a game called cardfight vanguard...

      (Just a joke mate xD)

    2. Ok lets see if I can break this down...

The best concerning your G-Zone is that it can employ odd numbers of Stun Beetle, considering that you dint need to stride into it if the first two don't hit. You can also manage two copies, in which your opponent would stop the second one, thinking that you are running the copies. As well, you can also run three copies to be able to use your second copy in case the first doesn't hit. It is also a possibility that your opponent would guard even the third Stun Beetle, thinking that you are running four copies. At any rate, Stun Beetle is a staple in Darkface decks at at least 2 copies.

... This is litterally Tachi said in his blog about Stun Beetle but with bad grammar... Actually, it's almost a copy-paste...
