Budget Deck: Nova Grapplers (Beast Deity)

Beast Deities. Probably my favorite Nova Grappler deck with its perfect mix of pressure
and rush. Quite flashy too and it feels so great when you pull off combos. Only problem is that almost every card with "Ethics Buster" in it's name is pretty expensive... Whatever, I'll make it work. Let's get on with it.

Grade 4

The Ultimate, The Strongest
Beast Deity
Starting off the blog with the big, bad boss of the deck: Ultimate Beast Deity, Ethics Buster Catastrophe. His skill is just awesome to use. Whenever he drive checks any card with Beast Deity in it's name that isn't a trigger he restands a rearguard. Catastrophe basically turns your whole deck into stand triggers, which is just flat out amazing, but he's $8. The bright side is that he can flip any card in the G-Zone for his cost, so you only need one for it to be usable. Run as many Catastrophe as you can, at least two or three, then fill up the rest of the slots with Vic-ten and other strides for Catastrophe to unflip.

If you got Victoplasma that's cool too.

Grade 3

You'll become meta one day, very very soon...
Guess what, guys. Catastrophe's got a Grade 3 clone in the form of Ethics Buster Extreme. Extreme has a Limit Break that works just like Catastrophe; if you drive check a grade 1 or greater Beast Deity then you stand a rearguard. An amazing card. Max it out.

Ethics Buster "Reverse" is Beast Deity's restanding vanguard. By counterblasting two and locking two units it can restand by discarding two cards. A pretty good restander, but those locks really hurt and "Reverse" itself is pretty situational. But "Reverse" becomes an AMAZING card when comboed with original Ethics Buster.

Ethics Buster is an awesome break ride. During the turn that you break ride, whenever your vanguard attacks your front row rearguards restand. This card is just plain awesome with the other Ethics Busters. Only problem? Original
Ethics Buster is $13. Run a copy of Ethics Buster BR if you can, but it isn't mandatory.

If you're REALLY constrained by budget you could focus on "Reverse" with Azure Dragon as backup. It isn't too horrible.

Grade 2

s rising after the fall

Brainy Papio gives early pressure and rush, something that Nova Grappler decks love. It's on-hit restand is great for extending your attack count. Only problem? It's about $4-5 so can't really run it with the Grade 3's eating at the budget.

Jackalord is a budget alternative to Papio, though you could always run both, and is awesome for early rush. His GB-less cheap, guaranteed stand is great and works so awesome in Beast Deities. Loving these amazing commons that are being released in G-Boosters.

Need some field control? Dragotwist is here. Whenever it restands you can retire a rearguard with less power than Dragotwist. Pretty cool unit, since it gives Beast Deities a bit of a Kagero-esque playstyle.

Grade 1

Two for one sale on Crocs everyone!
Four Perfect Guards, Three Stride Fodders. Staple. Try to get the Beast Deity perfect guards for the name, albeit they are more expensive then plain-old Twin Blader.

Limit Break Enablers work really well with Extreme on the first Grade 3 turn and allows for great early game rush. Most players won't be prepared for such a deadly onslaught.

Max Beat is an awesome card. Whenever it restands you can restand another Beast Deity. Use it to make the most out of Extreme and Catastrophe's skills. It's basically like those 2 for 1 sales everyone loves. Everyone.

Horned Hulk is a great lock target for "Reverse", since it rests after using it's skill. If you are focusing on Ethics Buster "Reverse" run this over Max Beat.

Grade 0

Riot Horn is the best Beast Deity starter. Just like Max Beat use it to make the most out of Extreme and Catastrophe's skills. I like to think of this as my "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" sale. Riot Horn's just perfect in Beast Deities.

For triggers, anything works in Beast Deity. Crits give more pressure and early rush, Stands give more attacks to force out cards from your opponent's hand, and Draws help keep up in hand advantage. Between Crits and Stands, I recommend Crits in a "Reverse" centered build and Stands in an Extreme centered build. Put in draws if you feel like you are running out of resources too quickly. I personally run 12 stand, but you do you.

NOTE: This is only an example decklist and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.

Effectiveness: 8.5/10

Price: $75-85

Competitive: Yes

Final Words: Beast Deities are my favorite Nova Grappler deck for a reason. Their mechanic of turning the whole deck into pseudo-stand triggers is so unique and awesome. There's a lot of power in knowing that the cards you drive check will all be useful. I know the decks that I have posted are all on the high end of the budget, but trust me. These decks are fun, powerful, and competitive. They are totally worth the price and the investment if you choose to build them. Beast Deities are pretty easy to pick up and anyone who has played any Nova Grappler deck will immediately fall in love with it. Overall a great deck for a pretty great price. If you want to spend a bit more pick up some Ethics Buster Break Rides and Victoplasmas.

Any plan for Brutal Jack deck build?

    1. I don't think Cat Butler ever got hit in English, but it's pretty simple, so I could just spotlight it rather than a whole post.

  3. I was curious as for the triggers if 8 crit and 4 draw the draw would be a good idea?

    1. I prefer 12 Crit, but if you feel like you need the hand recovery go for it

    1. Extreme. Reverse is good on the break ride turn but is generally lackluster otherwise. Extreme is good anytime limit break is active or you have an enabler
