Nin! But he looks more like samurai...
What do you say for samurai? Oh whatever

Everything in Murakumo is dirt cheap, since everyone has looked away from them. They are really underestimated in my opinion and have plenty of potential, and could actually become a force to be reckoned with once the new Technical Booster comes out.
I wanted to wait until the new Technical Booster came out before writing a blog... but I got impatient and started writing anyways. So here it is! The long, awaited Murakumo blog!
Grade 3
Scary, but pretty |
Alright, looking back at this, Yasuie spiked like crazy, but in return we got a new form of Yasuie in Stealth Rogue of the Trials! It's only $3 compared to old Yasuie's $8 and is arguably alot better. Definitely recommend getting this. If you can afford the old Yasuie as well, go for it!
For our amazing Yasuie we're going to need a good backup. Let's see here...
There's Shirayuki, whose defense skill is just amazing. Any stride swinging in for 26k-36k will become a measly 6k-16k attack. and we all know how easy it is to guard that. Katsumi Rogue works similarly to Shirayuki, with the advantage of being more versatile and easier to use, albeit being a bit weaker. Katsumi's second skill is also pretty good in case you can't stride.
Bandit Ape's a great cloning target for Yasuie and gives some hand size and draw power.
Nyudo Cloud's a watered down Yasuie, but in some cases it's better(gradestalling etc etc). His cloning skill isn't GB restricted, so you can have a quick two units to attack with. The only problem is that calling 3 Grade 2's doesn't work out very well, for obvious reasons.
Grade 4
Gotta ask the translation team
what they were thinking...

Your bread and butter's gonna be Kagamijishi. His backrow attacks make for some really good beatdown and, as I said earlier, works amazingly with Yasuie. After a few turns with this your opponent's gonna have a huge damage count and/or a tiny hand. It's great and it's hella effective. Unless your opponent is playing Gavrail/Crossride or gets a damage trigger. Yeah, that doesn't work out as well.
Your secondary stride's gonna be Onibi Blader... oh I'm sorry Onibibu Radar(god dammit English Bushiroad). Anyhow, Onibi Blader can call a target for Yasuie's stride skill in case you have to play against Control Decks that don't give you any targets to clone or lock your front row.
Homura Raider is Murakumo's restander and is pretty good since you don't minus for his restand. Just use Yasuie to clone one of your units and voila! Three units for Homura Raider to send back. The only problem is his Counterblast cost(and his real cost too). I'd only run two at most, since Kagamijishi is the star stride in this deck.
For G-Guardians, 4 Hogen Wing's all we got at the moment. If you have the money, fit in a Dizmel or two. It's really helpful for keeping Yasuie clone targets on the field.
If you're running Shirayuki, her stride could be teched in at 2-3.
Grade 2
Gotta add ALL CAPS |
Other than Fujino? Almost anything will work. White Mane's a Bellicosity clone that works well as a second Fujino. Dokube's there to hit numbers. Oboro Keeper can turn the fake plusses from cloning into Grade 3's in hand. Hell, you could go for a tech-in FUSHIMI to starter-snipe.
Don't use Runestar, though. He needs a booster, so he doesn't exactly work well with Onibibu Radar and Kagamijishi.\

Grade 1
Who thought up this skill...

Charcoal Fox is another card that works great with Kagamijishi, but Fujino's better.
Lake Diver can work with Kagamijishi without worrying about having a copy on the field to clone with Yasuie.
Oboro Cart! Even more copies of Fujino to rush your opponent!
Metamorfox tech-in to counter Link Jokers? I guess you could. Not like Grade 1 slots are too tight anyways.
Grade 0
Like any other Stride deck, 8 Crit 4 Draw is best, but you could tech-in Hidden Scroll for a bit more consistency against Control Decks.
For starters, Onifundo is the best. You aren't using soul, so it's perfect. The rest of the starters for Murakumo are pretty garbage. If you really, really don't want to use Onifundo I guess there's Evil Ferret, but it's a terrible, pointless -1 just to call one unit for attacking. So yeah.
Decklist:
NOTE: This is only an example decklist and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.

Competitive: Maybe
Final Words: Fun? Definitely. Competitive? Once Murakumo finds a way to fight Control Decks consistently then hell yeah! Murakumo's are so, so fun and so, so underrated. Sure, they won't be seeing any Tournament Tops anytime soon, but this deck is just perfect for casual.
Side Note: Okay, I have absolutely no excuse for as to why I posted this blog extremely late. I just got really lazy and forgot that I was writing this. Anyhow, I'll try to work on a bit more routine schedule now, and I'm gonna be updating the Beast Deity blog. I re-read it and was... quite disappointed in myself in the quality of the work. I hope you guys'll re-read it once I'm done.
Anyhow, see you on the next one!

Deck looks like a ton of fun! The being said, you now MUST do Nubatama now =p Otherwise I shall accuse you for favoritism.
ReplyDelete-Miles
Deck is hella fun.
DeleteAnd go ahead and accuse me of favoritism until I get to writing. :P
Nice
Delete...
ReplyDeleteWasn't Shirayuki expensive as hell?
Also @countering control decks we got a new Stride for that, no?
Shirayuki was, like, $8-10 the last time I checked. "Affordable" enough for some people. The rest have Katsumi. I thought it deserved a mention.
DeleteWe did. The matchup still sucks ass though, trust me.
It was like $30 a piece the last time I checked tho... Meh
DeleteI see.
could the murakumo reverse G3 be used since you are using the G1 unfliper
ReplyDeleteHyakki Vogue Reverse works better in his own build and not as a backup. If you want to focus on him, I suggest adding more oboro carts, midnight crow, and the hyakki vogue stride.
DeletePlayed the suggested build for a while and I enjoyed it, but I felt like the deck could be kicked up a notch or two so I played around with the build and ended up with:
ReplyDeleteGrade 0:
4x Evil Ferret
8X Crits
4x Hiden Scroll
Grade 1:
4x Stride Fodder
4x PGs
4x Lake Divers
Grade 2
4x Tenjiku Stealth Rogue, Dokube
4x Fujino
2x Midnight Crow
Grade 3
4x Yasuie
4x Nyodu Cloud
(Could also sub in some Amakusa)
The deck feels more consistent over time since calling units with evil ferrets puts them back into your hand to use their on call effects again (Lake Diver, Oboro Carts, or Million Rats if you run them) and to help get timing right for calling units to get powered by Kagamijishi.
Might drop the 4x heals for 4x draws, depends on how aggressive you are feeling I suppose
DeleteInteresting build, with all the bouncing. Could be a good answer to control decks. We'll have to see what comes in the new Technical Booster for the new Yasuie stuff.
DeleteToo bad Yasuie's expensive now.
For Budget Murakumo, what about a Hyakki Vogue Breakride deck?
DeleteProbably in the future
