I've seen so many people playing Messiahs wrong. Actually it's not that. It's that Bushi designed Messiahs wrong. Link Joker was supposed to be defensive, but this is being offensive. This is clear seeing cards like Amnesty Messiah that was meant to be a "finisher", in the cost of all of your defense. This guy... Isn't worthy of being a $40 card. If it wasn't for the rarity, he'd be at most, $5. After a bit of time at least.
So, going back into the topic, this offensive mechanic in a defensive clan isn't such a good idea. So how do you use it? Use it defensively. This is actually extremely easy because Messiahs can lock like there's no tommorow. Like, really. Making 3 turns of Triple lock? Easy peasy.
So the basic premise of this deck is that you'll buy 2 of G Trial Deck 5: Fateful Star Messiah, and "evolve" your deck from there. With keeping in mind that you're trying to make a defensive deck. It's actually easy because the TD gives you most of the and key cards, like Alter Ego Messiah, Duskblade, and Lightspeed Cheetah.

So, obviously 4 of Alter Ego is a staple. Then for the other Grade 3s, we have two options. One of them is Lady Gunner of the Neutron Star. This is a great card because it's a RG option. You have Destiny Dealer to search out Alter Ego, so you'll almost never ride your backup Grade 3. So then, why not have a backup Vanguard that has a skill that can activate in the RG? Well, if you do ride it, it'll be disastarous, but still.
The other one is Cradle of the Stars, Stellar Maker. This guy... Can unlock cards. A word of advise: Never unlock your opponent's RG (Unless it's a backrow RG) for this guy's skill. Never ever. Please no. This was meant to unlock your own RGs, not your opponent's. This guy is a solid option. Well, this into Neutron Star + Awaking Messiah can turn out into quite the play, I guess. I'd run 1-2 of this, and 2-3 of Neutron.

And he was claimed guilty... |
So... Lemme talk about the ideal G-zone. It would consist of 4 Big Crunch Dragon, 1-2 Amnesty Messiah, 0-2 Judgement Messiah and 0-1 Blizza, but this G-zone... Is consisted of foils. Big Crunch is soo good... Except that he's $11-13... You see here, All of LJ's G-zone is consisted of expensive units. So that's a thing. Idealy in a Budget deck, you'll have 4 Judgement Messiah and 4 Nebula Dragon, Maximum Seal Dragon. Welp, with the right cards, I guess that Maximum Seal can get up to +20k, or even more, so he's justifiable. Otherwise, Cray Elementals.
Grade 2
Your favorite Alarm Clock. |
So... Well, 4 Duskblade for maximum defense, and Heavymaterial Dragon at 1-2 for the hand size. Lightspeed Cheetah is a solid option, and so is Lady Battler of the Gravity Well. Awaking Messiah can be used because synergy with Stellar Maker.
Blast Monk of the Thundering Foot + Awakening can hit collumns, LJ style, but right now, we want defense.
Grade 1
I'm shooting out... Cola? |
So, the main boosters. Eh, there isn't really much to say about this, aside from: Run the TD PG, run 2-3 Dark Metal Chameleon, Destiny Dealer of course, either Lockbreaker, Riddle Biter or Lady Battler of the White Dwarf (Preffered latter) and consider Palladium.

So, there are 2 Starters to consider in a Messiah deck. One of them being Neon Messiah, and the other being Spawn of the Spiral Nebula. Neon Messiah is basically a lock fodder, and Nebula is a lock engine. There are obvious differences. Both of them give you a quality wash. Neon takes a -1 for a +1, but fetches a Stride fodder. Nebula is a -1 and a +1 (Considering that you have something to unlock our RG with) for defense, so it's really hard to decide... In the end it's up to you.
No. Please don't even start about Dust Tail Unicorn. It's straight out horrible in this deck, or even Star-vader decks now with so many better starters out.
Triggers? Like Generic Shadow Paladins, this deck lacks progress early game, so Draw triggers are a must. Also, Link Joker has a Margal clone with great art, so Alter Ego synergy.

Final Words: This deck seems really simple, and just plain (Which is true), but it works really great. It can Tri-lock (Or at least 2 units) every single turn combining something with Alter Ego, and the moment Alter Ego's GB2 is unlocked... (It's one of the best GB2s so far) you get hand like no one does. All you have to do is to spam Alter Ego's GB2 for a ton of draws, then when you have 0 soul, change into Stellar Maker to hit for 17k 2 crit every single turn. Do note that if you Stride too much, you'll deck out (I fought a Messiah player decking out against my Gear Chronicle deck...).
Messiahs Autopilot? Lel no. Link Joker in general is already a Control Deck, and while Messiahs were meant to be aggressive, it'll still be Control deck by nature. It can't be helped. This deck is defenitely recommended for casual play since it's overall fun and wasn't in general, made for competetive play (Due to Messiahs needing many expensive cards in order to be fully functional).

Can you do an updated version of this budget messiah deck? and I kinda have a budget idea for the recent nova grapplers so can i share my idea? Although I haven't thought much about it yet
ReplyDeleteSince Amnesty Messiah is currently cheap due to the reprint version (I'm not sure with the English Version), hopefully you'll have plan to post a new article about it.
ReplyDeleteAn Update Messiah article is probably going to be needed, since both the reprint and Flageolet are both viable options.
DeleteGlad to hear that...
DeleteLooking forward for it.
How do you get two of your own cards locked to use Stellar Maker's skill? I know you can use Duskblades to lock your opponent's cards and then unlock them, but that's no fun :P
ReplyDeleteHeavy Material. Gravity Well. Lady Gunner. Cheetah. Spiral Nebula. Etc.
