One of the two is Rex, which is a legacy deck that people wanted revived for a long time, including me. Rexes are a decent deck, being able to use Squallrex to push in the damage while finishing the opponent with Darkrex shenanigance. Their stride, Hellrex Maxima, supports this strategy by helping you tutor out a Rex you needed in that specific time (which, in most cases, is gonna be Squall, sometimes Dark) while giving the entire front row a +4k, helping in the 10k base that you tend to suffer from while powering up Tank Mammoth. Rexes also have an amazing fodder in the form of Assault Rex, who helps you hit hard while nullifying the cost of many cards for a simple draw 1 (Remember kids: field to hand conversion is good as Aurageyser has proven over the years).
Oh and also, remember that Assault Rex also triggers off if you used Squall/Darkrex on him and have nothing else in the bind zone. How does this work when Iguano + Darkrex over Spinodriver doesn't? Don't ask me, ask Bushi.
Anyways, Rexes can maintain a solid attacking spree while collecting a bunch of cards into the hand with Assaultrex.
Grade 4
I'm a Duck |
Aside from the best strides, max Hellrex and max Madew and 4 Dymorphalanx as G-Guardians, you need 4 things to fill the space. The biggest thing as this filler would be Grandogigant, which is amazing. I can't stop signing praises about this card. Retiring 3 cards on it's own is preety decent if you have the setup for it, and that free draw is straight up amazing. Field to hand conversion. Plus, it helps you get your Tank off, which means more attacks. You should have a lot of fodders in the deck to nullify that cost. That being said, well, you're probably never gonna stride into him when you have Madew and Hellrex as options, but it's still an option when it comes down to it.
If you have Dogma, run him. He's still a good thing and there isn't any problem in running him. That being said, he isn't as big of a staple in Rexes as he is in Gaia, since you can use Dark Rex as a finisher (which is one of the reasons on why Rexes are such budget; can forego Dogma, or hell, prefer to forego Dogma).
Twintempest is everyone's favorite field nuker! That we never actually use! Especially since unlike Gaia which has... uh, Freezernyx, you don't have any way to recover that soul Tank used up (aside from like... Black Cannon Tiger and Dinodile, which you shouldn't use much). He's still a nice option to have, but Tank is just too good.
Archraider and Hammer Gewalt are still good cards; just... almost completely outclassed by Grando. I'd still run them as space fillers, but that's about it.
Grade 3
DEATHREX. DO IT
SQUEEEEEE |
On the other hand, Battlerex functions as... a late Deathrex that can sack hard with checking Grade 3s. Oh hey, let's not forget that you thin your deck of Grade 3s using Hellrex! Also let's defenitely not forget that checking Grade 3s as drive checks can be either a good or a bad thing. Overall, the only reason you'd ever use Battlerex is that... it's a better 10k base than Darkrex, which isn't worth much. I'd say just work with Deathrex, unless you like Battlerex's art more than you like Deathrex's, in which case you will have to die- *shot*
Best foil Worst skill |
Darkrex's brother, Squallrex, is even better. Squall is an amazing card. With that extended attack, it can really help push in the damage, and if you get the right setup, he becomes the most amazing help rush-er in the whole deck. Also, your optional choice for the card to search with Hellrex will be Squallrex 80% of the time due to just how much utility Squall can provide. Squall is basically what Slash Shade, slightly worse but in a deck that can utilize him preety well. I can't sign enough praise for how effective Squall is in the deck.
Spinodriver is a good card that works in situations, but I'm preety sure that I wouldn't.
Also run Gigarex if you want kappa
Grade 2
My hobby is assaulting people |
Aside from Assaultrex, two other major staples in the deck are Tank and Sarco. Tank Mammoth is just way too good of a fodder to fuel your multi-attacking to not run in whatever Tachikaze deck it is that you're running (except ADs. ADs do have Bite), while Sarco is just... self-explinatory. Sarco can also help in the infamous urleh Tank-multi attack combo. Plus, a Tom clone that has 9k in exchange for a not-so hard condition to achieve is just great overall.
Aside from these two, the more minor choices for Grade 2 in rexes consists of Megarex and Launcher Mammoth. Launcher Mammoth can help in solving your CB problem, although with PGGs it isn't too big of problems. On the other hand, Megarex is extremely good. Being a 10k vanila to ride into can be really effective at times (while not as good as it used to be because Tidal is more of less dead, but still worth), while being a Grade 2 rex other than Assaultrex, helping in Squall timing, whether it be early on or late in the game. Also, with Hellrex and a booster, this thing can hit 21k, which is... o boi. He can also make 16k collumns if you use Skyptera. That being said, I mostly only use him due to nostalgia reasons, and while it isn't completely brainded ineffective, I wouldn't really recommend it much to a lot of people.
Oh right, Blightops is a thing. Blightops is defenitely good. Although well, he may make your space a tiny bit tight.
You... could do, erm, Cannongear, but why bother?
Grade 1
I killed a rabbit |
Aside from the typical 4 PGs, something worth emphasizing is that Stride fodders are more staple than ever compared to many other legacy decks that can work without them if they felt like it. Remember that you'd want at least 2 or more Grade 3s in your hand most of the time, since Madew fetching is limited to one grade 3 in the end. Stride fodders end up being really, really important due to this.
Anyways, aside from the typical 4 PGs and 4 Stride fodders, you have leftover space. Persoanlly, I like using 1-2 copies of Sonic Noa to fill that space in my deck. This is because if you tutor Noa out with Camara and call it behind Darkrex, you can hit 21k, which can provide your lethal game at times. Plus, an 8k booster with a 9k attacker that got the Hellrex benefits can help in hitting magic numbers.
Aside from Noa, you have the lil'old traditional Skyptera. Skyptera helps a lot in managing hand, which can come in handy often. Plus, with Hellrex and things, that 6k doesn't even hurt all that much at all. It's also tutorable by Camara if you're that desperate for things. Beamptera is also a thing for managing Darkrex's power level, which can help in lethal at times.
The LB enabler's not worth it. Please don't. You can't even use it with Darkrex since he only activates in the bind zone, and even then.
... Sparksaurus... is an interesting choice I guess. Helps in lethal when you get really desperate. Plus he has good art (don't actually run him unless you're working on a fun deck).
Grade 0
Sniff I'll miss you a lot p_p |
Something cheezy you can do is to use Babyrex and combine that with Squall during like turn 2 to call out 2 Grade 3 lethals, but again, this idea is really cheezy. Just go with Camara as your starter.
Coalamagnum is an amazing card. He helps in powering up cards for incredible amounts of damage pushing in while, again, doing field to hand conversion. I can't sing enough praises for Coala. Coala, in the first place, is one of the main reasons on why Dogma in Gaia isn't nearly as much hand-consuming, and as lethal as he is. Coala is one of the best fodders in the entire clan. Would defenitely run 4.
Oh, and also, if you don't like Coala because you don't like Stands in Tachis, Tachikaze not working well with Stands is a myth. Tachis work completely fine with Stands. What, it's not like you're gonna retire all your RGs every single turn, and even then, after Dogma's first wave of attacks, you can choose to attack with things like Tank first before you do Dogma to get the full benefit from the stand.
Speaking of stands, Tinyrex can help you get Squall off, but the idea is really cheezy overall.
Black Cannon Tiger's bad. Don't. Lozenge loop in OTT only worked because OTT drew a lot, and even then it worked like crap. You could use it to fuel the soul for Tank, but it's not worth the -1. Dinodile's fine because that unflip can help lethal, but in Tiger's case running the vanila 5k crit might as well be more worth it.
Psst, Savage Healer is waifu
NOTE: This is only an example decklist and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.

Final Words: When Rexes were first announced and I could use Deathrex again after... 3 seasons or so, I felt really happy, and the deck... did fail to meet the meta' s expectations, but it did completely meet mine since legacy deck nostalgia and the things Madew can help me do was really fun. Rexes overall as a deck are really fun, and while they might not go all the way to compete with the competetive competetive decks, it can be done if you do it hard enough. I do feel like I'm a little biased, since Rexes are not good whatsoever as a fact, but I do recommend the deck heavilly.
Anyways, I'll be back with another blog... over sometime if ever.

COuld you do a testerfox/chatnoir deck?
ReplyDeleteTachi will probably do so in the future, but you'll have to hear from him.
DeleteI might, but that's a big might.
DeleteWhat do you think about the Tachikaze's Raptor Chain-ride in the G-era, is it a plausible deck? I would love to hear your opinion.
ReplyDeleteIt's a ride chain. Ride chains in general are poor choices for decks at the moment because of their consistency issues, but works as a fun deck
DeleteDONT LET ANYONE CRUSH YOUR DREAMS LET YOUR RAPTORS FLOURISH AND DOUBLE CRIT PEOPLE
DeleteWould like to see an update on this deck post G-BT10
