Standard Budget Deck: Dimension Police (Metalborg Mashup)

I dislike having to remember Legion
With Silverdust Blaze recently released it's a good time to talk about the new giant robots from this round of Dimension Police support. While the support in this set has been mixed, a good amount of options have been provided to the regular and budget playstyles. Bradblack is an outstanding addition to several variants within the clan due to it's ease of use. It being a RRR also means it can find its way into many budget builds and can give them a boost of power needed to make them more viable. With that in mind, one of these options is Metalborgs, which will be the focus of this post.

Let's start with some history.
Chadblack really did
save this set for DP lol

Metalborgs arrived in Vanguard during the Legion era, taking the spotlight away from Dimensional Robos. Like its older counterparts, the deck focused around giving various buffs to the vanguard which would also provide pressure in the form of critical, on hit abilities, or guard restrictions to eventually take wins. Aside from a few new cards the deck has died off because future support was shifted back to Dimensional Robos and Cosmic Heroes, so it's nice to see them make a small comeback with their rebooted forms. In standard format, they utilize the recent support to alternate between utilizing pressure from the middle column and using a string of decently powered attacks to wear down the opponent's defenses and take matches. While only three Metalborgs returned, the generic support from the new set along with some older cards is enough to build something that's both solid and affordable.

   Grade 3

Going a little away from the norm I'll shift into the Grade 3 lineup first because it's where we'll be finding the main combo, utilizing Bradblack and Sin Buster. First, Bradblack's ACT ability is used to boost your front row. Then after setting up your board, swing with one of your rears unboosted. Next, you'll swing with Bradblack unboosted, using his skill to ride Sin Buster from hand or off the search. Sin Buster's skill will afterwards activate, superior calling Ur Buster over your rested rearguard, and giving you another swing in addition to another force marker to use as you see fit. Since this is relatively low cost for the deck you can repeatedly make 5-6 swings against the opponent whittling down their defensive options to win the match. When you are unable to go into Bladblack you can apply some pressure with Sin Buster's act ability as well. Between these two your grade three line up is already solid. However, if you want to consider additional rear guard options then you could try Silbard or Daizaurus for more pressure or utility respectively.

Grade 2

Can't believe that Metalborgs
are professional dudebros now
Ur Buster is the Metalborg Grade 2 that is simple but effective especially when used in conjunction with the grade 3 options, giving itself a simple buff when you have a Metalborg Vanguard. The retire is a neat bonus, but it's not enough to overly improve how the deck performs in most scenarios.  DaidumperPlatinum AceActive Mask and Daidragon can act as other units to use to help push the game in your favor. Daidumper removes himself after using his RC AUTO, which can make things easier for the main combo in addition to granting some additional defensive options early, Platinum Ace can apply more crit pressure, and Active Mask gives you additional swings. Daidragon's buff can be used as needed and it's another unit that buffs itself for free. If you want to consider other defensive options, Daiboat's high power lends its use in the early game, while Mad Scepter XSecilia, and Miracle Dandy have high shield values.

Grade 1

To start, if you haven't filled out your sentinel options, Enola would be the primary choice due to her on-ride ability. Otherwise you would be left with Elvino as a regular PG. Grandrope is pretty good for searching out your various rides and is also a consistent booster, but if you find it a bit pricey Daiscooper can also fulfill a similar role in the deck. You can even consider running both if you want. The promo Twin Order is amazing for just about any DP deck, but due to its price its not really a budget option. Be on the lookout for it if you can since it's something I think will remain useful in the long run. Daibrave provides some draw power and a cheap power-buff that is also useful in a lot of DP decks, and is a bit cheaper since it also got a Revival Collection reprint. Dailander, Daijacker, Daimariner, Daitiger, and Commander Laurel are other options to further increase the threat your vanguard poses at any given time. Quilt provides some more draw power, while Daigyro and Drohedd can provide defensive options.
 Grade 0

The Boi is back
With this being a Metalborg deck the only option you can consider as your starter is Blackboi. For triggers aside from the obvious four heals we have the usual draws and crits. If you can find the reprint from the festival collection, playing Diamond Ace will open up some space in your Grade 1 lineup. It's far more affordable than it was before, so it's a great time to make the investment. Grandbeat as the new 30k sentinel crit is also good if you want to play more aggressively.

Example Decklist:

Grade 0:
1x Metalborg, Blackboi (V)
4x Cosmic Hero, Grandbeat (V)
3x Army Penguin (V)
3x Dimensional Robo, Dairacer (V)
2x Furry Monster, Momomohja
4x Cosmic Hero, Grandrescue (V)

Grade 1:
4x Dimensional Robo, Daiscooper
4x Cosmic Hero, Grandrope (V)
4x Dimensional Robo, Daibrave (V)

Grade 2:
4x Metalborg, Ur Buster (V)
3x Quick Hero, Active Mask
4x Dimensional Robo, Daidumper

Grade 3:
4x Metalborg, Sin Buster (V)
4x Black-Clad Top Tier Deity, Bradblack

Price: $30-60

Effectiveness: 7.5/10. It's pretty easy for the deck to do what it wants but needs to get to grade three before it can really abuse any setups or combos.

Competitiveness: 5/10. While Metalborgs have easy to utilize pressure turns, they aren't the best DP has to offer. Sin Buster's skill can aid in locking out some shields, but on average most people will use grade zeros to defend anyways.

Final Words: Metalborgs are definitely fun to play and mess around with, and it's one of the cheapest investments if you've ever wanted to get into Dimension Police. Try it out if you want to slam your opponent's vanguard with your own and spice up the deck with options that complete your image of victory.
