Budget Deck: Gear Chronicle (Pegasus)

Gear Chronicle, is a wild horse clan in CFV right now, that is supported like a monster (Since well, it is Chrono's clan). There are mainly 2 ways to go with this clan: Either Guard Restriction or Field Control. Guard Restriction is the Aggressive one, obviously. This one is self explinatory. On the other hand Field Control is... Basically Kagero, only a lot more interesting. GC can't destroy as much as Kagero, but it has countless options that you can use from Epoch + Glimmerbreath, Chronoscommand pressure, Lost Age mass Rewind, Chronojet spam, and Legion. You can do everything for very budget options.

Guard Restriction or Field Control?
Personally I really like Field Control the best, but that's not what I'm here to talk about today. Before when we were still getting the FC2015 spoilers, I saw Upheaval Pegasus and thought "Meh, works" and dismissed it.

That's when I found the existance of Mist Geyser Dragon and friends.

This gets soo ridiculous, it's not even funny. It's unarguably the best deck in GC right now, and very budget considering that nothing is too expensive. All you need is 2 TDs and a few cheap cards and voila! You're ready to go.

Rulings: When you Pegasus your opponent they check Liberator Garmore style. Note in mind.

Grade 4

Requires Chronojet Dragon,
is a Pegasus
If you haven't noticed yet, this deck focuses on waiting for your opponent to build a field and unleashing Pegasus, resulting in a massive scary as hell 60k collumns. I'm not even kidding, 60k Legit.

So go to hell with 4 Pegasi, and now the rest of the lineup... Since you have no reason not to max out your G-zone, I'd get a few other cards. Epoch-maker works, then there's Faterider Dragon that tutors out units, and so on and so forth. Until your opponent has at least 3 units, you won't be Striding Pegasus so these guys can do the job for you.

If you can't afford 4 G-units, then you could always use 1 Epoch only and get away with it (Trust me I've tried it before) but it's always for the best to max out the G-zone.

Grade 3

So the only boss (As of now) for GC is Chronojet, so max him out. You need him for Pegasus anyway.

So in GC there weren't any decent backups for Chronojet (Being a new clan and all) but G-BT04 changed it all. G-BT04 teasers gave us an amazing backup for GC, and his name will forever remain in the history of GC. Steam Fighter, Balif is such an amazing unit; you'll never go wrong with this guy in your deck. You ride him? Skill to search out Chronojet. You hit with Epoch? Call him out for a RG on-hit Rewind. You absolutely can't go wrong. If you do? Nah you can't go wrong when you have a 100% chance of riding Chronojet.

You'll never go wrong.

Until G-BT04 comes out, any G3 that has 11k can be replaced with it, so yeah. Once Balif comes out defenitely replace him though.

Grade 2

What's with all that battery?
Mist Geyser isn't the only unit that gains from Pegasus. Iron-fanged Gear Hound is the G2 clone for Mist Geyser that combined with the latter, gets.... Very scary. Run 4 to max out luck.

Other options are very few... Well there's Glimmer Breath Dragon who extends your Rewind count to power up units, there's Steam Knight, Kalium that can up your count twice while not plussing directly (Also gives early game options), and that 8k doesn't even matter when Mist Geyser can pump it to 58k.

If you can't get Glimmerbreath, then Amber works. If you can't get Kalim (For some reason) then Smokegear.

Grade 1

Yet another Turtle Drgon!
4 Mist Geyser is a must, 4 PG is a must, 3-4 Steam Breath is a must. Now that makes it a whole lot easier.

Anyway going back, there are a few options for this deck. First up another G-BT04 card that is yet to come out, Forethought Gear Fox. This is a Grade 1 Tom (Why not 2...) that works. Booster by Mist Geyser this'll make a real PG or die attack, unless your opponent somehow gets out 6 G1s and 2s, it's unblockable (OR a PG).  It works, but it isn't really needed no matter what. Then there's Summit Crest Gear Wolf, who is a replacement for Mist Geyser for +3k instead, but with 7k base. Obviously (Aside from ride target) Mist Geyser's better, but why not run both?

Grade 0

What, you're worried about not having a Mist Geyser in the field when you need it? Don't worry for you have Gearhawk! This is commonly called the worst starter in GC, which is true, but not in this deck. The deck has a loot of Rewinding power so it's the ideal starter for the deck. Do not run anything else. Perioud.

Triggers? Eh, 12 Stands with this deck might be scary... Then again crits and Draws are still a thing, so as always please try it out.

Note: I highly support building your own decks and doing your own testings. Please do not straight out use this deck, but use it as a base to start and spread out and make your own Version.

Effectiveness: 10/10

Price: $50-60

Competetive: Yes

Final Words: So this deck is one of the best options around (Being the best deck in the whole clan and all) and also very affordable. Also it's very autopilot and overall amazing. I would defenitely recommend this for players who aim for competetive play, and beginners who wants to win. For fun? This deck is probably better suited in competetive play (Because it'll ruin your opponent's hopes and dreams) but yeah, there's no problem in running it in casual play. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Unexpectedly this deck was competitive. I've tested using 8 crit 6 draw and 6 stand 6 draw. So far using 6 stand 6 draw is works for me. Might add Interdimensional Dragon, Chronoscommand Revolution since we will able to put 16 G-Units.

  4. This deck was posted back in 2015, I was wondering if it is still viable post FC2016?

    1. While the deck is outdated as hell, taking the straight ripoff of this card and taking it to tourney wouldn't be as terrible as one would imagine.
I do recommend making changes though.

    2. What would you suggest changing? I'm a bit too new to this game to know many of the cards at all.

    3. I, personally, would run Chrono Dran over gearhawk. Chronoscommand engine is really good too(1 Metallica, 1 Chronoscommand, 2-4 Revolution). I'd also include Ur-ningin for some unflipping and Lugal, since he's a Tom that hits numbers.

  5. This is on my favorite decks on the site. Love playing it and it remains decently competitive still today. I like running 8 stands, 4 crits, and 4 heals, but that's just me. Stands are super strong in this deck when you make 39k grade 2 restand, plus an extra crit?

    1. Yeah, Stands are especially good in this deck. Gear Chronicle has really good Effect Stands like Gearcat, Worker, and Ur-Watar, so there's even more reason to run them!

  6. since this deck is pretty old, like 1 year old... what would you recommend changing and why?

    1. Let's see...

First, start by adding in a lil Time leap shenanigance like History Maker for that multi-attack while still beating down your opponent with really high power level I guess along with Tick Tock Worker maybe. I need to test with the idea... if I ever get around to it.

Aside from that, the deck shouldn't have too big of changes overall, since most of the new GC support is meant for Time Leap.

    2. guess thats true. However I've been thinking would it be better to cut Mist Geyser Dragon and Iron-fanged Gear Hound from 4 to 3, and then use the remaining space to add in some time leap shenanigance. The reason for this id because the deck is slow as it is already. Why? Because you have to wait for your opponent to call units out to rear guard circle. If not, pls tell me the reason why. Another thing that came to my mind is that Nextage is getting repeinted to 'R', would it still be expensive? How much would it cost? Thanks for your time xD

    3. Don't rely on Nextage being cheap.

And I'd just slap in some Chronoscommand things, and the Melem-History engine of you can afford ask if that.

      And Lugal is amazing

    4. what would the Melem-History engine look like?

      Delete
    5. 2-4 Urwatar, 1-4 Melem, and 4 History Makers. As well as Metallica phoenix

    6. uuuu kk, which starter do you think I should run?

  7. G-TD09 is on the way...
Maybe gonna put four Chronojet Dragon G...
Not sure if the Zodiac Time Beasts compatible with this build...

    1. It depends, but probably not. Zodiac Time Beasts are gonna be their own complete separate build, so they're probably not gonna be splashable in all Gear Chronicle build.

Chronojet Dragon G by itself isn't too shabby, but this type of build is very heavily focused on Rewind, so you want to be on original Chronojet at all times, with Balif as the card you lie back on.
