Budget Deck: Pale Moon (Harri)

Welcome to the dream stage!
Magia-Pale Moons have the ability to set up a full board without using a single card in hand, then send them all back into the soul for safekeeping. It's for this reason alone that Magia-Pale Moons an AMAZING matchup against control decks.

Kagero? Nothing to retire. Gear Chronicle? Nothing to rewind. Link Joker? Nothing to lock.

Do I really need to say any more? And the great thing is that control decks are all seeing significant amounts of play at the moment. The only "bad" matchup that Magia-Pale Moons have is against Shadow Paladin because Phantom Blaster "Diablo", but not like it's that hard to deal with.

Anyhow, let's get into the blog.

Grade 3

Turn that frown upside down!
Harri is obviously going to be our main Grade 3. His Stride skill acts as the trigger for many of your rearguard Magia skills and can chain into 3-5 calls from soul. That +5000 also helps hit stages. Run at four.

The best backup to Harri is Flying Manticore. When he is ridden he can check the top five for any Magia and, hey, Harri has Magia! Run to lower the chances of you misriding. His on-hit Magia skill is really nice, but I'm mostly playing it for that check top five.

Fullsmile Wyvern, while not as good as Flying Manticore, is something that I found during testing to be a really great option. While that 10k base hurts, his simple Magia skill really does wonders. And wait, is it true? No Generation Break? Aw hell yeah. If you're not an 11k base whore then consider running Foolsmile.

Other options include Miracle Pop Eva, Luquier "Яeverse" and Alexis.

Grade 4

So let's talk about Dragon Masquerade, Harri.
On the cheap side of GRs

He's a GR that's about $30. Expensive, but not too outrageous considering the prices of other GR's(coughcoughnextagecoughcoughamnesty). Anyhow, it has an amazing skill and since the rest of the deck is so cheap I HIGHLY recommend that you try to use him in your deck. You're only going to need one so it shouldn't be an excessive problem getting him. If you can't, it's totally fine. Deck still functions great and still does it's job.

Mephisto is going to be your main stride. He makes great columns and gives you some more options with what to call from the soul. I was expecting him to be expensive as hell, but I'm not complaining that he's cheap.

So you have two options for on-hit pressure: Clifford and Amanda. Obviously Amanda is better since she has Magia, but you have free space so why not run both?

Blizza's a nice tech-in to either finish off the game as your last stride or to flip up a G-Unit for both Harri's Generation Breaks.

Grade 2

Tfw you thought this unit was a girl
First up on our Grade 2 lineup is Flying Peryton. It Magia's one unit for free on-call and pumps up soul for potentially more useful units. Works amazingly to fill the field quickly in conjunction with other Magia abilities.

Miss Direction has a skill that allows her to call herself from soul when another unit is called from soul. Again, helps to fill the field quickly.

Crescent Moon Juggler, Jacqueline, and Hellsgate Magician are there as options to call more units, but you usually want to conserve the Counterblast. If you feel like you have a lot of free Counterblasts go aheadand run them, but don't do so otherwise.

Daydream Tone, Arny helps with any counterblast problems you may run into. Also applies great pressure.

Nitro Juggler and Dreaming Pegasus help to fill the soul with more units to call. Nitro can be used earlier, while Pegasus is more selective and consistent.

Grade 1

~Magic~
Obviously you're going to be running 4 Stride Fodders and 4 Perfect Guards, but for Perfect Guards you have the option of running Hoop Master or the TD Perfect Guard. It's a completely preference pick and if you think Hoop Master is worth the extra investment do so.

Cutie Paratrooper is basically a Grade 1 clone of Flying Peryton, so run 4 to increase the chances of getting it into the soul.

Intensely Sweet Clown becomes a 12k beater/attacker after he is called from soul. Great for making columns.

Madcap Marionette can put cards in your hand into the soul if you happen to be missing parts of the call chain, but takes a card in hand to use. If needed, Acrobat Bear can fill the job quite well.

Egg Juggler's gotten a reprint in the G-TD and is great for increasing hand size.

Grade 0
You have the choice between Happiness Collector and Cat Knight. Cat Knight makes call chains more consistent. Happiness Collector gives you some greatly appreciated soul and cards in hand, while also being spammable. I've been using Cat Knight and that works for me, but you do your own testing.

Triggers. Crits and Heals are of course mandatory, but I recommend putting in a few Prankster Girl of Mirrorland. It has a pretty nice skill of searching the deck for a card to place in the soul and helps with consistency issues if they may arise.

Also, don't run any more than two draw triggers. Any more and you're going to deck out VERY quickly with all of the soulcharging you'll be doing.

Decklist:
NOTE: This is only an example decklist and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.

Grade 0

Grade 1
4x PG of Choice
4x Masquerade Bunny
4x Cutie Paratrooper
2x Intensely Sweet Clown

Grade 2

Grade 3

Grade 4
0-1x Dragon Masquerade, Harri
1-2x Ardor Dragon Master, Amanda
1-2x Miracle of Luna Square, Clifford
4x Curtain Call Announcer, Mephisto
1-2x Snow Element, Blizza
1x Air Element, Sebreeze
4x Chainsaw Megatrick, Furnival
1x Metal Element, Scryew/Dark Element, Doxic

Effectiveness: 8/10

Price: $40-80

Competitive: Maybe

Final Words: The reason why I put Maybe is because Pale Moon is more of an Anti-Meta deck that was built to counter what's good at the moment. It doesn't do anything spectacular against anything else, but it does its job amazingly against the meta. Masquerade Harri can put Royal Paladin and Aqua Force's rearguards into the soul and, as stated earlier, the entire Magia mechanic makes playing against Control decks much, much easier. The deck's really fun and relatively easy to build, so why not pick it up?

Side Note: Sorry about the late post. I've been having internet issues lately, but now they're fixed. Since the 20th is coming up soon ill be working on updating all of the blog to include the 16-card G-Zone

See you on the next one!

    1. Harri's been topping more than Nightrose decks at the moment, and I think you could fully build Harri deck than a Nightrose deck(With G4 Nightrose) for a much cheaper deck if that's what you're looking for...

But with the new set, Nightrose is looking to be a top contender in the future, so I'd go with Nightrose if you're looking for maximum competitive power.
