Sanctuary Guard, an Archtype that has been out for a very long time now (Withought any direct support) suddenly got an amazing new support in FC 2015. Holy Dragon, Sanctuary Guard Regalie is a fantastic card. No, like seriously. It's one of the best Strides in the game so far. A deck focused on this guy can be scary, and due to the reason that most of their cards aren't foils (RR or higher) this build is fairly budget.
The only problem? Sanctuary Guard Dragon is $20 and the most consistent way to call Grade 1s to the field right now is Swordmy who has a fairly expensive price right now and sucks at being available.
Because of that I have, during the past few months, been looking for another consistent way to search out Grade 1s and, apparantly, RP has more than one ways of doing that. It was preety easy building a deck withought Swordmy.
The only problem left was how to bypass the original Sanctuary Guard Dragon... And I tried out a Sanctuary Guard deck with only Guarantee, and while the 10k base does hurt, I don't care. It worked a lot better than I expected. While Dragon does work better, this is equally as good. This deck, my friends, is the incarnation of pure rushing. Welcome to Sanctuary Regalie.
Grade 4
Cavalier Sword! |
In RP, there's this "Big 3 Generic" Stride list. They are consisted of the following: Gablade, Samuel, and Jirron. These three are the most Generic Strides that RP have right now. Gablade is self explinatory as the usual on-hit unit, and Jirron is extremely useful no matter what your deck is. Samuel is withought a doubt the least Generic compared to those two, since it can't be used in a CB heavy deck, but it again, withought a doubt, has the strongest effect. CB2 for a free damage is really good. Really really good.
Also, the most awesome thing about this deck is that Saint Blow can be completely ignored so that's awesome.
Grade 3
I am the Guardian Dragon |
Run as many Sanctuary Guard Dragons as possible, and fill in the missing gaps by using Gurantee. After that? There are the typical backup choices, but from my testing, I found the most useful unit Fang of Light, Garmore. He can search out Grade 1s which is good as it already is, and, believe it or not, you'd sometimes want to ride him.
Don't get me wrong you should totally go Regalie 10/10, but there are decks that get stuck on 2 on purpose the whole game to shut out your recourses (No Stride = No GB and no Regalie), which is this guy'd turn to shine. Garmore gets 1k for each Snogal out in the field. Combining this with the Grade 2 version of Garmore, you'll have at least 2 Snogals out the whole game. 2 Snogals out means Grade 2 Magic number all over the place, so you're not playing a complete Vanila game if nothing.
But of course you wouldn't want to ride Garmore (Obviously, unless your opponent gets gradestuck) so if I were you, I'd tech in a copy of Altmile to search out using Siclius in the worst case, but I dunno since I haven't played with the idea yet.
Grade 2
Legion revival now.
No I'm serious as hell. Any kind of revival for this hell of a card like they did with Macha. |
There are a lot of ways to search out Grade 2s, like for one, Akane. While CB2 seems like too much, Sanctuary Guard decks can seriously have some free CBs to use, and this fits in perfectly. Run at least 2, but 3 might be too much.
Akane's also there's but you'd want to use Archer of Sanctuary over Akane anyday, anytime. Archer of Sanctuary isn't limited to High Beasts, and can become a 11k attacker. The only thing that Akane has over this guy is that Sanctuary can't be used on the VG but honestly it isn't much.
I guess Constance works too.
The original Garmore works really well over here. Not only does he search out Grade 1s he's also CB free, so he can be splashed in any deck you want. So you have at least 6 engines in your deck that can call out Grade 1s. That's perfect. It's enough.
Also, using Starlight Violinist in this deck is, while it doesn't seem like it, a fantastic idea. You've just added in a card that searches in your Grade 2s, which can search out Grade 1s. Basically this is even more copies of any Grade 2 available in the deck.
Grade 1
Meh, not really much stuff to say here. You'd obviously want to max out Snogal with all the engines that can search him out (MAX HIM OUT NO MATTER WHAT), then what?
PGs obviously (Not really PGGs, since this deck doesn't even come close to needing an unflipper) and then there's Knight of Shield Bash that can be used for early rush (Power attacking both late game and early game? Oh god) and there's Sicilus in case you don't have enough Grade 3s to Stride with. That should practically make up your Grade 1 lineup.
Do not run:
Rendgal: Only temporary, at most Akane fodder.
Richard: How do you plan to call him out?
Grade 0
I blame Llew. |
So there are 2 choices of starters when you use a Generic deck in RP. Knight of Drawn Sword and Millius. I guess you could use Brugal at 4 and use him instead of Snogal but why would you?
So anyway the choice between the two is obvious. Drawn Sword is a -1 and Millus is a wash, so it's already obvious, but there's more. Millus can search out a Grade 2. It can search out a Grade 2. I repeat: It can search out a Grade 2. With all the stuff like Garmore and Archer, it means? Grade 1. This is superior in the sense of how Violinist is good in the deck.
The choice between the two is obvious, but the choice between him and Jumpgal? Not so much. Jumpgal becomes a 10k Vanila Grade 0 thatcounts towards Regalie, while Milius as I said, can search out any Grade 2 (Preferably Archer) and use him to search out a Grade 1. It is really a tough choice... So just test it out!
The trigger lineup gets a little tricky. You obviously want crits, and Draws in this deck works because Garmore, but then again Stands get deadly in this deck. You can run whatever you want, but I really can't give much advise here.
Decklist:
Note: I highly support building your own decks and doing your own testings. Please do not straight out use this deck, but use it as a base to start and spread out and make your own Version.

Competetive: Yes
Final Words: So Sanctuary Guard right now is wreaking havoc in Japan right now, making Bushitroll.... Bushiroad keep an eye on Swordmy and Regalie, of which we'll be troubled of... Anyway enough of news, to the deck.
So the deck is something I'll be testing a lot in the future because... I'm gonna build the very deck in front of your eyes (Exception of using Dragon instead of Gurantee, because I can) there, and try it out. So far the deck has been very autopilot and very competetive, and just overall one of the most efficient decks I've made so far. Would defenitely recommend this for both competetive and casual play for being amazingly fun to use and competetive at the same time.
So, how's the Dragon deck coming? I've been trying the deck with Dragon and Guarantee. It's pretty good. Have you considered Battle Song Angel in the G1's? As for strides, the Altmile stride is really good. If he's cheap, he'd be an excellent option.
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
DeleteI'm trying out Gurantee only since Dragon isn't budget and I found out that Dragon isn't even needed (while, still nice to have). I just crush my opponents before anything can happen.
I did, but I couldn't find space with me needing to use Snogals, PGs, and Siclius because of my damned luck with the deck. I could remove Shield Bash but the rush is good. I'll test it out anyway though.
The Altmile Stride being a free +1 only on the second Stride is a bit meh for me, since I could just Stride Regalie instead and win the game that turn. It's an option, but I think I'd rather use Gablade as first Stride to hit and plus. And is G-BT04 prices out yet? That's the only thing keeping me from updating the Megacolony post and etc...

This is what I tried over in Cardfight Area. I've found that I personally have absolutely horrendous luck when it comes to guarding. I get nothing but 5k's. Anyways, I usually ride Violinist and call out a Twin Sword. That way, when I stride, I can grab out an Archer for either another 11k+ attack if I have a full field or a new column if I really feel it necessary. Anyways, preorder prices are not, in fact, out yet. I've really been using Alty in the case of a Megacolony matchup so that I can save my Regalies. I think I might go with Gablade considering that a Dragon deck totals to about... $160 USD. That does include 4 Regalie and 2 Samuel, though. Ah, geez, I'm starting to distract myself. Anyways, you could order a Mega TD for about the same price as a single copy of SGD. It's ridiculous. Oh, and if you do decide to use Dragon, Hidden Sage, Miron is an excellent target for the on-ride skill. Good luck and godspeed in the rest of building your deck and the future posts here!
Reposted because mobile OS failed me.
The deck itself is good enough... Except why 2 Samuils? 1 should be enough...
DeleteOh and CFA isn't excatly the best place to test. Either shop tourneys or self playong is the way to go.
Well, for the first point, I find that I don't use Samuel at all. I might drop him in favor of Gablade or something. For the second, I don't have the physical cards, the card shop I usually go to (and the nearest one) is about 45 minutes away, and proxying just feels... Wrong to me. Honestly, CFA works well for me. It lets me get a closer feel to the meta at the moment. We don't really do that many shop tourneys, so... I might try proxying them, but I do have some of the cards coming, including 4 Snogals, 4 G2 Garmores, and 3 G3 Garmores. Thanks for responding!
DeleteExcept CFA is the furthest thing you'd conpare to "competetive"...
DeleteI'd recomment Tradecardsonline instead. Better players. The controls are a lot different though.

ReplyDeleteMay I ask that since the deck is quite heavy on CB and SB, do you plan to make changes to it and since the release of comic booster vanguard and deletor, sage of salvation benon could be a better target for a budget player as garmore can be hard to find
ReplyDeleteActually, the deck is not CB heavy whatsoever.
DeleteHmm... Garmore was predty darn easy to find over here, but I guess a Benon varaiant could work too. Gimme a few... Weeks to work on it if I don't get lazy.
it may be easy for you, but not for me unfortunately. And people have been saying that using Altmile as the other G3 with guarantee really forces you to go for the weaker strides instead of regalie
Deletemy as it 60 buck dick
ReplyDeletemy as it 60 buck dick
ReplyDelete$60 can be considered budget for majority of people.
DeleteIf you want a really cheap deck that costs like, $20, look at other decks please. There's no way you're getting Sanctuary Guard cheaply.
Misread implications.
DeleteThis used to be $20 until Regalie shot up in price, so there's that.
