Update Deck: Gold Paladin (Gurguit)

Step 1: Buy Two Gold Paladin Start Decks
Step 2: Buy Some Cheap Singles
Step 3: Deck Complete

That above isn't even a joke. G-SD02 is a very good product. It costs less than a Trial Deck and two of these gets you closer to a competitive deck than two G-TDs. Very, very good product for budget players wanting to start playing Gold Paladins.

It gets even better when you consider the fact that Gold Paladins probably got the second best support in the newest set. (First? Probably Angel Feather- Rescue) Anyhow, you who want to build Gurguit now there's no better time. Now let's get on to the blog.

Grade 4
Even more staple GRs...
Scourge Point best budget stride in Gold Paladin. You get a copy from the Start Deck too, so you only need to get two more for a plates.

Cambell is the on-hit stride for Gold Paladin. Staple at 3-4.

Spearcross is an option if you'd like. Isn't too shabby now with all of the countercharging you'll be doing and how fast you can flip up five cards in your G-Zone with G-Guardians now being a thing. Run 2 if you want too, but 4 is a bit too much.

You get Ray Breath in the Start Deck, so just run it to fill space. The power boost to the front row isn't too bad and is better than running Harmonics Messiah.

Blizza can enable Gurguit's GB2, which is a lot more viable now with Sapphire and Marcia countercharging and bumping soul.

Generation Break deck. Run Sebreeze if you have the money.

For G-Guardians: Reia's all you really need. Dizmel's not really needed since you can fill your board really easily
Grade 3
Very nice, very nice
4 Gurguit's obvious. Now for backup. Ezel Scissors would be really nice, but he's expensive as hell and the only reason you'd run Ezel Scissors is to use Mithril Ezel, which is also expensive. So stay away from Ezel.

Dawngal's probably the best option, since it sorta makes the deck less RNG in terms of what you check for calling. Lofty Head and Danvallo take second place. And oh look. All commons.

Bradott would be really good... if every single card in your deck has Unite. Which it shouldn't. So no.

I guess Spectral Duke is a thing if you want to have a restander option, but it doesn't really mesh well in Gurguit decks. I'd stay away from it since it's pretty expensive compared to Dawngal and Danvallo, which work better with the deck anyway.

Grade 2
Who is on the translation team
seriously...
Unfortunately Pwyll has spiked up to $20 since G4 Gurguit got announced. Definitely not using that. Well, there are alternatives to Pwyll in the forms of Viviane and Elio, one of which comes with the Start Deck.

We have two ways of countercharging and soul charging: Marcia and Saphir. Marcia's Unite sends herself to soul to countercharge one, while Saphir countercharges one and soulcharges one when called from the deck. It's all up to preference which one you pick. Or both. Nothing wrong with that.

Farmgal and Perimor call units when called and help to fill your board or power up Scourge Point. Don't know how much Perimor's gonna be, but Farmgal's definitely cheap.

Catillus is our Unite 12k Beater, but why run that when there's Bullrgal.

Grade 1

My name's Jeff...
Four Stride Fodders, Four Perfect Guards. And hey, you get all of that with two Start Decks.

We have three Draw Engines for this deck: Jeffrey, Dindraine, and Coolgal. Dindraine collides with Gurguit's GB2, so I prefer not to run her. Between Jeffrey and Coolgal, Jeffrey is a wash while Coolgal is a +1, but it isn't as obvious as that. Jeffrey makes room for Gurguit's call and pumps up soul, while Coolgal is just a vanilla 6k after he's called. Jeffrey also has 7k base. Again, all preference.

Sleimy isn't very good. Gurguit's GB2 is actually viable now, so Sleimy isn't really needed for guarding.

You have a lot of extra soul now, so a Maleagant or two is great for unflipping damage.
Grade 0
Three starters to choose from: Lionet, Spring Breeze, and Coel. I personally like Coel best, but you do you.

For Triggers, I'd Run 8 Crit, 4 Heal, and 4 Effect Stands. Which effect stands, you say? Gigantech Ringer's one option for the power boost, and Ketchgal Liberator can increase the amount of power gain from Scourge Point. Just don't run draws. You don't need them and you're asking to deck out if you do.

Decklist:
NOTE: This is only an example decklist and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.

1x Knight of Early Dawn, Coel
16x Triggers of Choice

Grade 1
4x PG of Choice
4x Dawning Knight, Gorbudoc

2x Golden Dragon, Rising Shine Dragon
2x Galloping Golden Knight, Cambell
2x Golden Dragon, Ray Breath Dragon
1x Snow Element Blizza
1x Air Element, Sebreeze
4x Sacred Heaven Prayer Master, Reia

Effectiveness: 8/10

Price: $30-35

Competitive: Yes

Final Words: This is probably the most bang for you buck you can get. For such a low price point you get a nearly complete budget deck. This deck is really fun and really good and a deck that I heavily recommend you to build. If you'd like to put more money into it you can buy a G4 Gurguit or two.

Anyhow, see you on the next one!

  1. lol at my local knight of the sun is like $25, so that would be like $50 or above for me. Sad life xD. Btw which deck do you think would play better in the competitive world, blade wings or gold paladin. Cuz as you mentioned in ur last post blade wings are good around control deck, but i'm not rly sure as it is rear guard reliant. An example is link joker locking. And now gold paladin, the deck has amazing rush, but bad hand right? same as royal paladin... It's also very rear guard reliant. But still both hilariously fun to play with! Nice jobs guys xD

    1. Well, Gold Paladin is good against every control deck except Link Joker. Against Kagero, Narukami, and Megacolony they can just make a fresh, new board. Lock is countered by Ezel Scissors and Mithril Ezel, but those two are expensive as hell.

About Blade Wings. They are somewhat rearguard reliant, but are more of a stall deck. If they play against a control deck they can just keep all of their units in hand to guard with and stall out the game.

I'd think that Blade Wings are much more enjoyable, but Gold Paladins are more competitive in the long run.

    2. then I guess i'll make a blade wing deck! Cuz I bought pbra deck (Shadow Paladin) and i got bored of it becuz it was too strong. The crit pressure and the hand power! But blade wing seems to be more fun as idk, defense?

    3. Most meta builds atm aren't really fun. I mostly play obscure stuff(which at some times are troll. Amon Rush Anyone?) so I just have a hella time with the game. Good Choice with Blade Wings. Extremely fun and it gets so hilarious when they deck out.

  2. I'm curious on how the new sneak peak PR stride will work? as it could be budget too

  3. Oh it works great. I just didn't know that it would be a promo ay the sneak peek. I, myself, got four copies and the Gurguit mat

  4. Do u hve another grade 4 line up that I could use without campbell being 4.(U could add the PR stride?)

    1. Sure

      4x Scourge Point Dragon
      2x Rising Shine Dragon
      2x Cambell
      2x Ray Breath Dragon/G4 Gurguit
      2x Blizza

    2. Wow! Thats way better, the grade 4 lineup is more consistent now, thx. Btw do u know which cards I could remove to add in 2 pokkur?

      Delete
    3. You could remove 2 of the Fahmgals for the Pokkurs and run a Cray Elemental G-Guardian if you'd like.

      Delete
    4. Could I ask, what is ur comment on running pokkur in this deck? Like is it consistent if I run Pokkur?

      Delete
    5. I never tested with it, but given the amount of soul that's available and how bad the Link Joker matchup is without Ezel I'd think that Pokkur is a completely viable choice. You can toolbox it pretty easily in Gold Paladins(although it is RNG) so it's not too bad. Would be a lot better if it were a Grade 1, though.

  5. thx for ur reply xD, just wanna ask if I cant get my hands on fhamgal, could bullrgal replace him? If not what is a better choice?

    1. Perimor's probably best, but I don't know the price point in it yet. Lop Ear Shooter's the next best thing.

      Delete
    2. perimor is around $8-15

  6. Rising Shine @1, Sleimy4 @1 and Scryew @1 have completely been ignored. *salutes*
4 Campbell is too much and probably will forever be too much. 1-2 is probably a safe number. Aside from that, I'd put in Rising Shine and/or Spearcross @2.

    1. I didn't put rising shine because I didn't know that it would be coming out as a promo in the Sneak Peek, so I'll put that in later.

Spearcross is $10, so I refrained in putting it in. Sleimy and Scryew are both at about $6-7, so I refrained from putting them in as well.

    2. >Spearcross $10
      >sleimy and Scryew @$6-7
      RIP.
Sleimy and Scryew should be a good choice doe, considering you aren't as broke as I am. Spearcross @10 is straight up just not worth.

  7. scourge point is a promo and is not in the start deck

    1. Scourge Point is a promo card that is included for free when you buy a start deck. It comes stand alone within the box, separate from the rest of the deck

  8. How about adding Build Peak Dragon?
