So I'm doing another hyper-casual deck. One that has probably been completely forgotten about now that Honorary Professors and Bigbelly just got support.
It's Leo-Pald!
OG Leo-Pald is bad. Reverse Leo-Pald is questionable at best. What makes the deck shine is the Leo-Pald G Unit. It may seem simple and underpowered, but it is actually strong. Its effect is as follows:
[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, if you have a heart card with "Leo-pald" in its card name, choose one of your rear-guards, and until end of turn, it gets [Power]+4000, and "[AUTO](RC):At the end of your turn, retire this unit." and "[AUTO]:During your end phase, when this unit is put into the drop zone from (RC), search your deck for up to one card with the same card name as this card, reveal it to your opponent, put it to your hand, and shuffle the deck.".
It gets a clone of a retired unit. Because you have to retire the unit, I guess the ability on its own is basically a wash (with a power boost). But this is Great Nature, people. You can stack the effect on Tri-Ruler Cat or Ruler Chameleon to get 2 copies at the end of the turn for a CB. Then you can draw with Duckbill and search for a G3 with Miikesaburo. You can have a superpowered unit attack again with Tusk Master. The deck stacks effects on top of effects on top of effects on a unit for huge numbers and then huge plusses at the end of the turn.
In addition, the deck is only a little over $25. It doesn’t need Minibelly, and the strides are incredibly cheap. Most of the deck is commons. I’m glad a deck can be this cheap in the current state of the market.
Decklist:
NOTE: This is only an example decklist and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.

Imma do a little bit more explaining on the deck. First off, don’t use OG Leo-Pald. He’s bad and has a weak base. In addition, because Crayon Tiger is stupidly expensive, you need room for Tusk Master. Tusk is amazing due to the low cost and the fact it can restand a huge unit with extra power… Honestly there is no reason not to use Tusk Master at 4. It hurts if you ride him, but you shouldn’t have too, especially with 3 Mikesaburo. The generic GN G Units aren’t bad, and Hrimthurs and Phoenicalux work fine if needed. His skill also works on the VG circle, so that’s a plus.
When making the deck, the main problem I had was deciding on the G2 lineup. I eventually used a 10k Vanilla, even though I still don’t like them too much. My only other 2 reasonable choices were Set Square Penguin and Binoculus Tiger. I literally never used Penguin’s skill. Usually my formation would be something I stacked effects on top of in one of the front rows, and Tusk Master on the other side. Penguin can’t give the effect to himself, and even calling Otter or Tapir for more power would work better. CB isn’t a problem at all in the deck, so Penguin was redundant and unnecessary. Tiger is just Tapir without Resist, and was also redundant. You can try them over the 10k, but they simply aren’t useful.
I love Tri-Ruler Cat. I highly recommend it over any other GN PG. The reason is that you can clone itself twice into the hand. Leo-Pald’s skill adds a copy of the retired unit to the hand at the end of the turn, and you get a copy with its own effect. It’s not the aim of the deck to stock up on PGs like this, but getting a hand full of PGs is becoming more and more important with the super-fast current meta. The only other PG I’d really even consider is the unflipper PG, but honestly the deck doesn’t even use CB that much.
Minibelly is something else you can use. When testing the deck, I found it wasn’t necessary with Mikesaburo. In Mike is simply better, honestly. The deck runs 8 G3s, and draws a ton. Running Mikesaburo and Minibelly just leads to extra G3s that can’t be used. In addition, it’s been a $5 Rare since TriDragon. It isn’t needed. Try it if you want, though, I guess.
The only other Starter worth consideration is Pencil Koala. The reason I’m using Telescope Rabbit over him is simple. Rabbit is faster and guaranteed (not and on-hit). Pencil wouldn’t even go off much when testing him. I had to have GB activated, and the boosted unit had to hit. Telescope Rabbit uses CB and has to rest, but neither of those matter very much. Getting something as powerful as possible still forces out shield and makes Tusk Master more effective.
For Triggers, just do 12 Crit 4 Heals. I didn’t find any of the Stand to be worth it, and running Draws is asking to deck out in addition to being completely unnecessary. Ruler Chameleon is the only Crit with an effect, and you can use it if $2 a copy seems at all worth (It really isn’t).

Effectiveness: 6/10
Price: $25-30
Competitive: No
Final Words: Other GN builds are more effective for competitive play. The deck is super cheap and fun. The G Zone can be improved with more money, but the deck doesn’t really need it because of how nice the Leo-Pald G Unit is. Bushi doesn’t seem to care much about Leo-Pald, so I can’t really expect support in the future. At least they have all the generic GN stuff though.
OG Leo is actually better because his affect is in the end phase so you use it after striding chaser
ReplyDeleteI meant effect
DeleteOG LeoPald does have the advantage in that he can actually use his skill with Chaser, but I still wouldn't use him. I know I've said numerous times that the deck doesn't use too many CBs, but they also need to be used at at modest pace. LeoPald's skill is medicore anmd unessicary. The CB are better used for Tusk Master, Rabbit, and Cat. In addition, Reverse can make a stronger boards on non-stride turns in addition to having a stronger base. I guess OG LeoPald gets to use Madew and Valancher, but having a weak base is still weak.Use OG if you want, I don't think it's really worth though.
DeleteWould you do an article on a Tachikaze Rex deck using the new support in G-BT10? The deck is all Commons and cheap R's and RR's, the G Zone is cheap and its a surprisingly effective rush deck.
ReplyDeleteI might be able to convince Tachimas to do that. Hopefully. Probably not. If not, Chang or I can get one up eventually
DeleteGreat Nature (V Series) Standard Format currently one of the solid budget deck with great strategies.
