Tips: Blaster Engine

Llew and Friends are finally back with
even more blaster support!

With the release of GBT-06 Royal Paladin decks got a HUGE boost of power with the new Favored Pupil of Light and Dark, Llew. It tutors any Grade 2 Blaster at the cost of itself during the battle phase. It is just plain awesome. And guess what? There isn't that little Generation Break restriction on it. Think of it like a Knight of Twin Sword, but with loads more utility.

The only problem about Llew? Blaster Blade is about $15-20 (Lucky you if you held on to your copies all these years.) But fear not! Your wallets will be safe, my fellow Royal Paladin players, and you will not be denied your new support. We have another, more budget-friendly option.

Don't actually run only one copy of this
Blaster Blade(No Skill Promo) is only $5. Compared to normal Blaster Blade's price I'm pretty happy about it. Blaster Blade's skill isn't worth the extra $10 and it isn't even used much at all because of the heavy counterblast cost. Since they share the name it is still completely supported by both the new Flogal and Barcgal.

There's also Blaster Axe-Grawl if you're really constricted on budget or are playing Alfred.

So the new Blaster engine:
4x Favored Pupil of Light and Dark, Llew
2-4x Blaster Blade
4x Floral Paladin, Flogal
2-4x Barcgal
Altogether it costs about $25. Yeah it's pricy, but it's effective. Do note that it is quite heavy on the counterblasts.

There are three decks that work particularly well with the Blaster Engine: Sanctuary Guard, Thing Saver/MLB, and Alfred. There's no way Thing Saver/MLB will ever be budget anytime soon, so we're left with Sanctuary Guard and Alfred. If you've got your old Royal Paladin deck from way back in Season One the Blaster engine will work in there too.

With the new DAIGO Special Set Sanctuary Guard is going to be cheap as hell, but we have to deal with no Sanctuary Guard Dragon for now. Even without it Sanctuary Guard is still effective and strong. With the Blaster engine it's even better, since Llew can call a new unit that can attack with Regaliae's power boost and force even more cards out of the opponent's hand.

The Blaster engine gives Alfred decks the offensive power that they needed. Ezzel's skill can tutor all three parts of the Blaster engine and makes it EXTREMELY easy to make two Llew columns. The Swordsmen of Light all work great with the Blaster engine too. Ahmes can tutor out Blaster Blade and Larrouse can tutor out the dogs. Grawl and Yunos power up from Llew's superior call during the battle phase and can make monster columns. Great synergy is always a good thing.

Both Sanctuary Guard and Alfred/Ezzel were covered in earlier blogs, so I will not go in-depth into these decks, but I will post decklists below with the new Blaster engine included into the lineup.

Note: These are only example decklists and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.
