A Refresh on the Purpose of Budget Decks

It's been quite a while since I wrote a post, so here it is.

There are a few questions I would like to answer.

What is the point of a budget deck?

James wanted it on here
I think some people misunderstand something about the decks we post on this blog. The decks we post on this blog aren’t going to magically beat well-built competitive decks.

While we try to build decks as competitively as possible, budget decks are limited in resources because of monetary restrictions. Many budget decks won’t be as competitive as we like it to be, but the Budgetfight Team does try their best to make each deck work as efficiently as it can. The majority of the decks here are for newer players, returning players that can’t afford to build expensive decks, or veterans that want to try out new clans without selling a kidney.

Tips: Twitterun, The Poor Man's Sebreeze

The Febreze to the Toxin
called Gradestall
Everyone knows that Sebreeze is an amazing card. The ability to punish gradestalling, intentional or not, is just powerful. And the fact that it can just chill in your G-Zone puts it out of the way and doesn't take up precious deck space. It's become a staple in all competitive decks.

Too bad the majority of us budget players can't really afford Sebreeze.

Sebreeze is around $10, and some of us just can't spare the money for a Sebreeze, leading most budget players without a power play against gradestalling. GB-locked decks, in particular, become purely vanilla without access to strides.

Fortunately for us, we have a cheaper alternative(sorta) in the form of Twitterun!

Card Tips: Countering Rush

Wrong kind of Rush...
After an entire week of talking about rush decks, now is the time to talk about how to beat rush. Take this as a rule of thumb, since there are a few situations where you're gonna have to play differently.

The meta, at the moment, doesn't really have problems with Rush Decks, since they don't need to wait for the mid-late game. Sanctuary Guards attacks are stronger and have an amazing pre-3 advantage engine, Chaos locks, Nociel has too good defense. The only meta decks that favor the Rush matchup are Granblue and Gears, but Granblue only goes even. So the part of you that plays meta, you probably don't have problems

Tips: What Makes a Prebuilt Product Good?

Although it may be obvious to most of you more experienced budget players, there are a few younger or less experienced players who don't know what they should be looking for with prebuilt decks or products, whether it be from Bushiroad, secondary dealers, or other players. Should you get it? Is it worth the money? Well, I wanted to make a quick, little guide(maybe not as quick and little) about prebuilt products.
Decisions Decisions...

There are three main places that you can find prebuilt decks for various TCGs:
-Official prebuilt decks, like Trial Decks for Bushiroad TCGs and Structure Decks for YGO.
-Online buying and selling sites, like eBay, and reselling sites, like Card Kingdom for Magic.
-From other players, whether it be online or at your locals.

All of these methods of buying prebuilt decks are great and as long as you look out for the good prebuilt products you won't regret it.

Card Tips: Rush Decks

I know I'm gonna get a lot of flame and someone's probably gonna strangle me for this but...

Rush decks are pretty hated in the community. By choosing to play a rush deck the player sacrifices all forms of quality and versatility, as well as half of their soul, to have a deck that does one thing and does it in a very, very efficient manner. While the selling point of rush decks is that they can start their hyper plays on their first attacking turn, the strongest facet to rush decks is the cheese.

More often than not people don't expect to play against rush decks and, if going against an inexperienced player, can net you some free victories. And the rush decks that focus on gradestalling tend to demolish legion and stride decks by locking out their main skills and turning the majority of the deck into bad vanillas.

Tips: Blaster Engine

Llew and Friends are finally back with
even more blaster support!

With the release of GBT-06 Royal Paladin decks got a HUGE boost of power with the new Favored Pupil of Light and Dark, Llew. It tutors any Grade 2 Blaster at the cost of itself during the battle phase. It is just plain awesome. And guess what? There isn't that little Generation Break restriction on it. Think of it like a Knight of Twin Sword, but with loads more utility.

The only problem about Llew? Blaster Blade is about $15-20 (Lucky you if you held on to your copies all these years.) But fear not! Your wallets will be safe, my fellow Royal Paladin players, and you will not be denied your new support. We have another, more budget-friendly option.

Tips: 4 Grade 3s!

Usually, when people build a Vanguard deck, they run the lineup of 17 Grade 0s, 13 Grade 1s, 12 Grade 2s, and 8 Grade 3s. This is usually the best lineup since the distributions of the grades are clear. But then, let's look at the "price" for each lineup.

What Grade in the world are you?
