Verz's Bizarre Cardfight: BWC 2016 Toronto Report

BWC 2016 Toronto Report

Hey guys! Verz here giving you a week late update about the BWC 2016 Toronto. I'll give you the full week insight on what deck I chose to play and my unending salt rage against Time Leap.

The Decision

So a friend and I decided to enter the Regionals since we were too cheap to buy anymore deck boxes. My friend was torn between bringing Diablo or Victor, while I was picking between Riviere, Prisms, Nociel or Revengers. To be honest I wanted to play Prisms but missing two grade 3 Vert made the deck too reliant on drawing Vert early or power pushing with Olyvia if I didn't manage to ride Vert.

Then around Wednesday, my friend and I went to A&C, one of our local cardshop and learned that they were selling Academy of Diva's for $44.95 (compare to $60 another store was charging). So we grab 3 boxes each and we pulled gold. GOLD. I managed to pull SP Emilia & GR Olyvia while my friend pulled SP Emilia and Potpourri. After fixing my Riviere with my new shiny cards, I decided, Riviere is going to be my deck during Regionals.

Looks beautiful right? I was missing one more Olyvia so I had to drop her to two. The 3 different 10k grade 2 are for rush defense and being different targets for Olyvia plays. Other than that, the deck is very simple and follows the skeleton build our good friend Robot made. (ABUSE SPICA)

Regionals

The day of the regionals, I decided to name my deck ATTACK OF THE WAIFU. While sadly I went 0-2 due to my unfortunately luck in both games, I can safely say Riviere is 2nd bestest waifu after Coral.

Game 1: vs Nociel/Gavrail
This game was really frustrating, not because of the deck but the player. He was stalling so badly and misplaying. He couldn't early rush because 10k defense in grade 2 is amazing. In the last 2 minutes of our time he basically went through all his relevant strides (x1 Gavrail and x2 Nociel) and striding over using his last Gavrail. None of his attack was going to get through since I was holding 2 Kukuri's, 2 Heal and 2 Crit and I was sitting on 4 damage. He already used up all his PG-G and 3 of his heal defending against my Olyvia turn and Lauris turn (those crits are amazing pressure). Unfortunately time ran out and we both got double loss. This loss didn't hurt that much considering the outcome would tip in my favor with both Kura and Trois in my hand meaning I can final turn with full counterblast and Spica's on the field.

Game 2: vs Time Leap.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I really thought this game was mine. I abused Lauris' strider skill, Akari and Emilia to draw a bunch of hand and manage to crit sack him to 4 damage and have a good hand to defend for the upcoming Metallica Phoenix turn. After surviving such onslaught, I decided to push for game since I know I won't survive anymore turns after using my my last two Kukuri last turn and my other two Kukuri was in my damage zone. I strided to Olyvia, dropped double Kura for the unflip and call over one of the Kura behind Spica with Shizuku to form 16k column. While I destroyed my CB with Spica, I managed to destroy his hand and he no guarded a 2 crit, 31k Olyvia. I can feel the victory, unfortunately no triggers on all checks. My opponent then proceeded to 6th miracle heal and he then Nextage me for game next turn.

So I went 0-2 this year. While it is an unfortunate ending, I now know how painful it is to get 6th heal'd. To be honest I 6th heal'd so many times against my friends that they hate me for it. I also remember I triple healed my friend when he 3 crit me lol. So that is my Regional experience for this year's BWC Toronto. I also manage to get one more copy of Olyvia so all my Bermuda deck has now access to that beautiful x4 Olyvia.

SEE THOSE OLYVIA'S? She's going to get her revenge on Nextage during Springfest. I hope you enjoy my little Regional report.

See you next time!
