Budget Deck: Genesis (Regalia)

After the Absolute Judgement set review I wrote, like, a week or two ago I made note that Regalia got some good support. Really good support. Regalia's now contending with Fenrir for the Top Genesis Deck in the format.

But we all know Regalia's the superior deck right?

Anyhow, the new Regalia support's really cheap in comparison to other meta builds at the moment and can be quite strong.
Grade 4
(Dai)-Urth!
Urth. This card makes the deck. This card wins games. When combined with Verthrandi it gets even better. Someone was theorizing and found that the highest you could get her to was 431k 14 Crit. Alright, I know that's the sheer highest, but on average she'll still be around 60-80k power and 4-6 Critical. Which is still an OHKO if she successfully hits. Unfortunately she dies to PGs, but that's pretty much the only thing that can stop her.

The best part about her is that she's not even $3! Just... perfection. Great skill, cheap to get. What more could you ask for?

Demeter's the second Regalia stride that's meant to work with the Legion, although it works outside of that just fine. And she's, like, $20 or something... Well, try to get at least 1 so you can have 2 Urth kill turns. It's fine if you can't get one, though.

Tyr is a necessity. So much soulcharging easy. It's cheap and it works.

Late game Blizza hits harder than a tanker going at 150 mph. Used as a secondary Urth after they're exhausted.

Vanargandr's great if you can get him.

Doom Brace is unnecessary in this deck and is almost counterintuitive.

Dione for filling space and budget. Madew for free striding if you use Legion.

I recommend Iris and Dizmel as your choice G-Guardians. Dizmel protects your front row units for use with Verthrandi and Iris fills up soul for use with Elsie(which I use in-lieu of PGs). Scryew works, too.

Sebreeze, as always, if you can afford.

Grade 3
Verthrandi's the best Grade 3 to go along with Urth. All that soulcharging Urth is doing will give
Verthrandi's skill a lot of value. Huge Vanguard and Rearguard columns. Not even $1. Regalia really needs some more credit.

The best backup would probably be Yggdrasil, but she's still expensive. She might be getting a reprint, but it's not confirmed. So instead for backup I use Nega-Keiopojisis! The soul charge is pretty good from drop and gives you more things to soul blast for Urth, more specifically Norn for more power. As long as you pay attention and don't kill yourself with it, you'll be fine. She's a promo, though, so you might have a hard time finding her.

In that case, Angelica isn't too bad of an option. Minerva's another card that would be great if you can afford her. Nyx can work too, I guess. Her mate's expensive, though, but the mate's really, really good. I'll get to that later, though.

Grade 2
Ya Thirsty Partner?
Hemera. Heeeemeraaaaaaa. Three soul from drop is goooood. And synergy with Uthrrrrrrr. But she's $5? Sigh. Get as many as you can afford. Mandatory @2 minimum if you're running Nyx.

Norn gives crazy power boosts. And is mate for Yggdrasil, if you get her. Good stuff. Run 4.

The rest of the Grade 2 can be anything you want, as long as it's a Regalia. I'll put my suggestions here.

Juniper is 12k subclan beater. My personal recommendation.

Venus is 10k vanilla. Tech-in 1 or 2 if you'd like for defensive number.

Hesperis for more on-hit pressure on your vanguard.

Freya if you think you'll be mostly on Leigon.(Which you probably won't)

Grade 1
Towards the Future!
Hemera clone is best. Shiny Angel is best. Run at 4. It's a common, so no excuses.

Other than that, you have your choice of Sentinels. You could go with your plain old PGs, but I personally go Elsie. It's pretty good and lets you mill out your deck for Uthr turns and empties your soul. Quintet Walls can serve a similar function. If you can't let go of your normal PGs, you can just tech-in Elsie at 1 or 2.

Stride Fodders are nice, but if you want more consistent games don't use them and just go with full Regalia(excluding Sentinels, of course)

Skuld. Free plus every turn... wat. And common? Aw hell yeah!

Limit Break Enabler is a choice if you decide to run mostly LB Grade 3s instead of Verthrandi.

Grade 0
The only Regalia forerunner... is Legion restricted... ok? I guess we're going with Leyding then. Or Van, if you prefer draws over calls.

Or... Grade 3 Searchers...

Run as many Regalia triggers as you can. Then Dreaming Dragon, which is absolutely mandatory for after you use up Uthr so you don't die from deck out. Mirror Regalia, Achlis is another particularly good trigger since he/she/it is a Norn clone.

Decklist:
NOTE: This is only an example decklist and should only be used as a base. I recommended that you create your own decklist through your own testing. I found this decklist to fit me, but it is up to you to find a decklist that fits you.

Effectiveness: 7/10

Price: $35-80

Competitive: Through my... revelation... I can say it is certain

Final Words: Really fun, really good deck. Has a lot of room for upgrade if you want to spend more money on it, and works just great without said upgrades so it's a good deck for low budget and high budget players alike. Uthr unfortunately dies to PGs, but is still amazing. Takes some/a lot of thought to play this deck, but if you can master it I can say it is quite worth it.

Anyhow, see you in the next one!

  1. This may be a stupid question but regalia doesn't have a field generating engine like fenrir does, right?

    1. not particularly. you can use Melissa and chamomile, though, if you feel like you really need to.

I say you have enough plus to not need it.
