Tips: Twitterun, The Poor Man's Sebreeze

The Febreze to the Toxin
called Gradestall
Everyone knows that Sebreeze is an amazing card. The ability to punish gradestalling, intentional or not, is just powerful. And the fact that it can just chill in your G-Zone puts it out of the way and doesn't take up precious deck space. It's become a staple in all competitive decks.

Too bad the majority of us budget players can't really afford Sebreeze.

Sebreeze is around $10, and some of us just can't spare the money for a Sebreeze, leading most budget players without a power play against gradestalling. GB-locked decks, in particular, become purely vanilla without access to strides.

Fortunately for us, we have a cheaper alternative(sorta) in the form of Twitterun!

Twitterun came out in GBT-06 awhile ago and I thought it was a great card. In a time where Liberator Rush ran rampant and Ripples were a dominant strategy, poor GB decks didn't stand a chance. As a Gears player myself, it was a godsend. I finally had a way to fight cancer Rush decks!(With more cancer). But it didn't really catch on. Nobody I saw at locals decided to run him, even as a tech-in.

But Sebreeze did. And now she's sitting at $8 average.

Even now I'm running Twitterun in my Time Leap build. Both to fill up Grade 1 space and to not die outright to rush. I also made a few notes to myself while using him.
  1. Twitterun works against Grade 1s, while Sebreeze does not. This is really significant now, since Seven Seas Rush is a thing.
  2. If you happen to have Twitterun in-hand against a gradestall deck, you can call him out early to rush and use its skill later.
  3. Despite running it at 1-2 copies, you can reliably get him in your hand more often than not.
  4. If you aren't going up against a gradestalling deck, Twitterun still makes good discard fodder and is still a 7k booster.
  5. It can be searched out with Mecha Trainer, Conroe, and other similar Grade 1 Searchers, if the need calls.
Is Sebreeze better than Twitterun? Definitely, but Twitterun ain't too shabby of a replacement if you're worried of being locked out of GB. If you're playing a Stride-based deck and have any open space in your Grade 1 lineup, I suggest testing out Twitterun.

I'll probably make a post about the various Cray Elemental cards out there, since I don't talk about them much, if at all, in the main deck posts.

Anyhow, see you in the next one!

  1. Glad to see there's an alternative to Sebreeze. I remember them being 8 dollars, since I was helping out a friend who was getting into the game, I decided to let him have my Sebreeze since I could easily buy another. Little did I know that it went up to $14. Lol, no way am I giving it away again. Ever since the two of us used Sebreeze on our friends trying to grade stall us in hopes of winning, I felt it was unfair but refused to buy them their own copy since most of my friends don't have the money to shell out for one.

These seems like they'll do the trick, hell I might run one in my Spike Brothers deck from time to time if I'm using Mecha Trainer. Gonna grab a couple for two of my friends, and one for the Budget Gurguit deck I'm working on for another new player since he can kinda fetch him out with those deck search abilities.

Glad to have stumble across this post, cheers!
