Budget Deck: Link Joker (Star-vader)

Long long ago, Star-vaders used to rule the world of meta with their Clown, and then they did it again (Although short) with the Doomsday Weapon. But as of now, the Generation two of Link Joker of Messiahs has overpowered Star-vaders and banished them, both from Cray and from the meta game (It's funny how well the lores fit with the meta game), and ow, they can be cheap as hell.

Grade 3

HUEHUEHUE
So firstly, We need to talk about this clown. He has an amazing skill that lets him Soulblast 1 and draw a card whenever a card is unlocked, and retire that unit. People who had mastered this unit topped a lot of meta tournaments. Now that the time of the clown has gone, I can safely assume that the price went down.... Wait, what? It's still $7? Wow. I guess a Budget Deck focused on CBD is just a no-no. Well then, how do we build a Budget deck with Star-vaders?

With this amazing Legion of course. Imaginary Plane Dragon lets you lock 3 cards for 2 Counterblasts. Usually people find the cost too expensive, but it's actually preety decent. Building a deck completely focused on this guy works amazing, with the pressure units, unflipping units, etc etc.

It was all a dream...
So, if I build a deck focused on that dreamy unit right there, what other Grade 3 should I use? Well, personally I'd use 4 Imaginary Plane and nothing else as my G3 lineup (Reason? here) since there's not really much decent ride target, so then. The best unit would be Garnet Star Dragon, but Photon... Then the other targets are Venom Dancer, since even the mate applies pressure. Then there's Infinite Zero Dragon, Alter Ego Messiah, etc.

Grade 2

2 Meals a day, no bed. Go.
So firstly, 4 of Osmium is a must, then we have Crownholder and Jail to unflip cards. Doesn't really matter that they aren't Star-vaders. You can tech-in these on-hit unflip units anywhere. Anywhere.

Either way, then there are units like Radon, and Niobium. Niobium with Imaginary Plane = 15k attacker almost every turn.

Then it's Sword Viper. If you choose to run Venom Dancer then you need to have this, and even if you don't, you can use it as a pressure unit. Well, it might not do that well of a job if you have Plane as your Vanguard...

Grade 1

We have quite a lot of options for the Grade 1 lineup.

Go away! Go away! Go away!
First up is Mr. Glows in the dark. It's another Kay clone. I keep on saying; Rush units are amazing. I'll say it as many times as necessary. Rush units are amazing. Then next to them are pressure units. For this, we have Volt Line. Wait, I thought that this was Link Joker, not Narukami! Whatever... Either way, that Omega locking effect is amazing. While booting Niobium, it makes a great Pressure collumn. But for even more pressure, try out Volt Line boosting Osmium. Then we have Lanthanum. Lathanium makes a great booster within this deck. It's not even funny. This boosting Jail makes it even more likely to hit, or Osmium to Omega lock, then... Etc.

Also, since PGs are so hard to find, run a few Quintet Walls, and a few Turndown Dragon. It works better than you think.

Grade 0

There are a lot of Starter options in this deck. When I say a lot, a lot.

Nyaaaaa~~~ (Do not run)
So first, I'll discuss the requirement for the starter, it must not use any Counterblasts. So then, the Star-vaders offer a lot of options so we'll have to discuss them one by one.

First up my list is Black Ring Chain, Pleiades. While this isn't a Star-vader and it uses a Counterblast, it's a bit risky running only 4 Grade 3s (If you even choose to) but I don't really recommend running this. There are a lot of cards that are better.

Secondly, it's Selenium. Selenium is a good card, and personally my favorite starter. Actually I pretty much like any starter that returns to hand. With that little guy (Or gal?) right there, you can play extreme defensive by utilizing your locks properly.

Nyaaaaa... Waitno.
Then there's Star-vader, Archfox. I know what you're thinking, but this deck doesn't need any soul, and with this you don't have to worry about Legioning the moment you ride a Grade 3. With that fox you can play aggressive. Don't underestimate the sneaky cat.
Tip! Use this fox's skill boosting the Grade 1/2/3 early game. Late game you can turn this into a 7k booster with Imaginary's second skill.

Then we have Bravefang. Boosting Imaginary Plane it makes pressure line like no one does. A 28k attack that Omega locks 2 if not blocked. Amazing.

Then finally, we have Quantum. This guy can help Imaginary Plane hit 31k power. Imaginary's second skill is really plain but in a unit as great as this, it becomes a hidden knife. Make the best use of it.

Then to the Trigger lineup. 12 Critical. Why? What do you plan to do with the draws in this deck? Call it behind Imaginary? For what? You'll most likely move the Starter there, you know? and you want to put a decent booster there if you move the starter somewhere else. Stands? I dunno. Try them out.

Note: I highly support building your own decks and doing your own testings. Please do not straight out use this deck, but use it as a base to start and spread out and make your own Version.

 Effectiveness: 8/10

Price: $30-35

Competetive: Yes

Final Words: This deck is one my friend made a long time ago, and I instantly got interested in it for having Imaginary Plane. I have to say he did a fascinating job for this deck. Anyway for that reason I can gurantee that this is up for competetive play. Also the deck is fairly balanced so you can play this in casuals too. Quite Autopilot and one of my masterpieces.

  1. looks like fun, is it still viable and how do the grade fours work in a budget build?

    1. Anything that can triangle lock efficiently is good.

And nothing really goes with this deck Grade 4 wise
I guess Judgement Messiah, Cray Elementals, and GGuards would do the job
